Third series of Area Liberations with the NIPA birds competing from Mullingar, Tullamore and Roscrea. All were delayed due to unfavourable conditions but release for all took place around lunchtime. Result was the same as the previous two weeks with many birds still missing at the clock checking, Area Liberations could have reached the end of the line. This week will be the first mass liberation, many lofts will be sending for the first time.

Hard race again for Mid Antrim Lofts from Tullamore -

For the third race for the local birds, we had a third Area Liberation, weather conditions delayed all the NIPA Liberations including Mid & East Antrim in Tullamore, overall result was another very testing event, with the majority of birds, especially in the longer flyers lofts still missing at the clock checking. Area Liberations are not producing the results they were intended when first introduced, maybe its time to go back to Mass Liberations from week one, starting, if necessary, an optional event from Navan for the longer flyers. Our birds go too far too soon, the young bird programme needs sorted, the sooner the better. Birds for our local liberation in Tullamore Co Offaly were released at 12.50pm in a Lt Westerly wind, East Antrim lofts dominated this result, best in the NIPA Sect B was in Crumlin & District with Fleming Bros who had a good card recording velocity 1321. In Mid Antrim Danny Dixon had the Card of the Day, winning locally for the third race on the trot, he had seven birds together recording velocity 1235 and took the Top 6 in Mid Antrim Combine. First trapped of seven birds out of Saturday's race from Tullamore, it's mother is Red Lightning when paired to Red Gert, the second bird was on the same second and it was a Rudy Van Reeth. Randallstown Secretary John Millar was well placed, and other local winners included Allan McBride who had 1st in Harryvulle, Surgenor Bros who had the top three in Kells, Jimmy Smyth won Ahoghill and C & D Jackson had their first win in Ballymena.
