Tullamore - 16/04/22

The East Down Combine was formed in 1967 and caters for pigeons fanciers within the County of Down in Northern Ireland. There are currently 22 clubs with approx 200 members sending a birdage of up to 5,000 pigeons each week. The Combine is currently spilt into 2 Section with a line running North to South creating an East to West Section. The membership currently race for 40 Open positions and 20 Section positions on a weekly basis. The Combine is affiliated to The Irish Homing Union Regulating and Promoting the Sport of Pigeon Racing in Ireland since 1895. WEST WAS BEST FROM TULLAMORE

Saturday April 16th saw the East Down Birds in Tullamore (Co. Offaly) for the second race of the season and with a fresh Southerly breeze this was always going to be a fast event as indeed it proved to be with the leading velocities over 1800 ypm and this week it was the West side of the Combine which dominated with members of Belmont ,Dundonald, Ballylesson and Newtownbreda having the leading birds with pride of place to Belmont’s Albert Gregg followed by Newtownbreda’s Mark McClure with Belmont members having the next three places and Dundonald’s Roy Irwin completing the provisional top six in the open .
The Bangor club dominated the East section through Burgess & Brennan , R Moore & Son and Lambert & Stewart . The provisional top Open, Section and nominated placings were :
