PENZANCE AND PENZANCE CLASSIC SUCCESS FOR KEVIN ROONEY, SON AND DAUGHTER

With an Unfavourable weather forecast for the Penzance races scheduled for Saturday June 18th ,a decision was made to go for a Friday race for this and the Penzance classic which is a race within a race where fanciers select and double up those they wish to have in the Classic .
The Birds were released at 6.45am in a SW wind and the winner well clear of the runner up was to K Rooney ,son &dtr of Annalong with a velocity of 1449 .the next two birds recorded velocities in the 1300’s ,2nd open being to the Cloughey lofts of M Adair & sons with Ballylesson’s Mackey& Lockhart in at 3rd open . After that the velocities fell away with 20th open on 1181 ypm to Geraldine & Paddy Brown of Annsborough.
In the Classic the Rooneys first open pigeon was also entered in the classic as was the 3rd open bird of Mackey &Lockhart who was 2nd open in the classic . The next three birds in the Open were also the next three in the classic ie at 3rd ,4th & 5th respectively . Provisional results of both races were :
