Since the St Malo Old Bird Derby EDC members have been involved in the 2 INFC Nationals from France where there have been some notable successes . The first EDC members in the King’s Cup were Dundonald ’s partnership of Cowan & McCartney who finished 18th open 13th north section with one of their two entries with several other lofts also having birds in the result .
Then from the Friendship National the winner was to the Killyleagh Central lofts of Bobby Stranney and a full write up on this outstanding performance will be in the INFC report on this race .Congratulations to Bobby and all those other fanciers successful in these races .


Well the young birds got underway on Saturday July 16th from Navan the being liberated at 9am into a light SW wind which gave the perfect start to the season . Leading velocities were well into the 1500ypm and again it was the West section which had the leading birds with Belmont’s W Morrison taking the top two Open and West section with two together . The remainder of the top twenty open places were shared between members of Newtownbreda , Ballylesson and Dundonald clubs .


The East section early ones were to Cloughey with Harper & Young having 8 of the first 9 with one of David Shaw’s of Bangor at 7th Section splitting the Cloughey birds . All in All an excellent start to the Young Bird season . The provisional results Open & Section are :

The final two old bird results were from Penzance and St. Malo .
From Penzance the top four places were shared between the lofts of Joe McGreevy and Gary Lyttle who timed in both their entries . Hoping Joe is keeping better as he has not been too well lately
