DUNDONALD PARTNERSHIP TAKE TOP 6 FROM GOWRAN PARK

For the 5th Young Bird race the East Down Combine Birds were in Gowran Park on Saturday August the 13th . Given the extreme heat which had been present for the few days previously and which was forecast for the day of the race it was a good call to have the birds away at 7am and with the light Northerly wind the velocities reflected this with velocities in the 1300’s .

Once again this week it was the West section which took the Open Placings but what a race the Dundonald partnership Of Mr & Mrs Brown & son had taking the first six Open & west Section with the first four dropping together on the same yard and a further seven birds in the open result .a great result from a former Combine Fancier of the year .At 7th Open we stay in Dundonald with the loft of McConnell & Young . 8th Open and section were Newtownbreda’s B Hogg & Sons with Ballylesson’s Cousins & Albert completing the top ten and who are enjoying a super season .

The East Section was dominated by the Bangor lofts of Burgess & Brennan , R Moore & and son , Cloughey’s Harper & Young who between them took the top ten Section places . The Open Section and nominated results were :

Joe Cromie

Once Again it is with sadness that I have to report the passing of yet another stalwart of our sport with the death of Joe Cromie of Glassdrumman Ballynahinch ,a fancier of many years with many racing successes to his credit racing latterly in partnership with his son Joe as Cromie, Magee & son . May I on behalf of the fancy extend our deepest sympathy to Joe (jnr .) and the family circle at this sad time .
