William McFetridge wins 1st & 2nd Combine from Roscrea -

The Roscrea comeback was flown on the same day as the Talbenny YB National Saturday 27th August with a liberation at 8.45am in light winds. Rasharkin fancier William McFetridge had a great result winning 1st & 2nd Combine after timing at 11.34am & 11.36am flying 148 miles. William was due a Combine win having had a handful of runner-up places, over the last two seasons. His winning chequer cock is bred from Herman's x Luis Thijs stock from Darwin Stuart of Ballymoney and clubmate Jackie Steele. William's second bird was bred by clubmate Mark Milliken. Harold Cubitt and Danny Dixon again of Rasharkin took the next two combine positions on 1527 & 1525. Shane Johnston had the best bird in both Harryville and the town on 1519. This was Shane's third young bird win of the season. His winner is a blue pied Wildermeersch x Lambrecht was bred by good friend Gary Gibson of Cullybackey. Next best, were the Kells & District winners Alan Barkley & Son who took the top four position in the club and had all four birds in the top 20 of the Combine with the winner doing 1515. Alan sadly passed away last year, and his son Jonathan and Laura Surgenor now manage the birds. Their first two birds timed are Lambrechts bred from birds from Jonny Simpson. Paddy and William McManus were best in Ahoghill on 1513 with a blue cock bred from their Karel Laenen cock paired to an Alex Docx hen. Bertie Blair topped Ballymena & District for the third time in young birds on 1512 with a dark chequer Lambrecht cock. This cock his down from clubmate Johnston Eagleson's "Channel Queen" and birds from Jackie Steele of Rasharkin. Alan Darragh was best in Cullybackey on 1504 and Marcus Morrow the Broughshane winner on 1483. Mervyn Eagleson PO.
