RPRA Awards 2022 – Members should note that the application system changed last year, the Irish Region will no longer submit their best claims to HQ of the RPRA, this must be done by the membership themselves. With the exception, of the old bird category, 450 Miles and over, and the Guy Barrett Trophy there are a number of changes to the way the RPRA National Awards will be administered and calculated for 2021. Applications will be made direct to the RPRA HQ. Applications can be sent by post. Please visit the RPRA.ORG/AWARDS to download and print an application form. Applications can also be completed online here by going to RPRA.ORG/AWARDS

All the applications will be judged on a co-efficient score. The deadline date will appear in the BHW and on the website at www.rpra.org. What is a co-efficient scorer? Co-efficient is a mathematic equation where each pigeon is given a score based on the pigeon’s position in relation to the number of birds it is against. Please note for Regional Awards please contact your local Region Secretary. Also please note an application for the National Awards does not mean it will also be considered for Regional Awards and vice versa. You will be required to submit two different applications. Remember its Free to enter. If sending by post write to: The Royal Pigeon Racing Association, Unit 35-41, Upper Mills Trading Estate, Stonehouse, Gloucestershire. GL10 2BJ.

All claims for RPRA (Irish Region) Awards in 2022 must be with the Irish Region Secretary Noel Higginson by 30th September 2022. Awards list is in the NIPA Race Book and note the Meritorious Award for Individual bird performance at Talbenny (2) & Penzance is available in each NIPA Section and lofts should ensure to put forward claims.

DRUMNAVADDY Invitation HPS would like to say a big thank you to everyone who entered the Gold Ring race - and also to Frazers Feeds and Crash Sevice for their sponsorship. Robert Buckley of Annaghmore HPS was the overall winner of the first prize. He collected a total of £1,275 prize money and £45 in vouchers. The total prize money paid out was £5,555 and £705 in vouchers, sponsored by Frazer Feeds. The Gold Ring pigeon was the overall winner in the NIPA from Talbenny, from 3,191 birds competing. David West PO.

It was with great pleasure to have congratulated Robert Buckley of Annaghmore HPS on his recent success winning in the NIPA Talbenny young bird national – from 3,191 birds. He grabbed the top 1st, 2nd & 3rd positions in the Open and Robert had also the overall winner of the Drumnavaddy Invitation HPS Gold Ring race. The winning pigeon was breed for him by the Dromore loft off J Kelly & Son. He also is a dedicated customer of Beattie’s Bird & Pet Foods. Robert is the son of Glen Buckley racing as "Glen Buckley and Sons" of Annaghmore. Glen was a previous I.N.F.C. National Champion. Robert was telling me, his father's pigeon landed with his 3. Robert lives 150m from his father Glen, so he chased the pigeon off and it was clocked at Glens with only 10 seconds separating the clocking times of all 4 birds on the same velocity. Both Robert Buckley and Glen Buckley are valued customers of Beattie’ss Bird & Pets, and it was with great pleasure to be able to congratulate them. I was recalling a conversation with Robert 3 weeks ago where he was emphasizing that he didn't think the pigeons were performing how he expected and how his father's pigeons were outperforming his birds on even the short training tosses. We talked about the best course of action, what products to use and when. He left the shop with what he needed and the next week he turned it around and took 1st position in his local club. Then this super result the following week from Talbenny. A tremendous result and we wish Robert Buckley all the best with the rest of the season. Thank you for your continued support at Beattie’s Bird & Pet Foods. Cyril Beattie.
