Show Season planned for Mid Antrim -

Just a reminder that Cullybackey HPS will be holding weekly shows starting this Saturday night the 29th of October. Penning will be from 7.00pm till 8.00pm. Everyone welcome.

The schedule will be: 29th Oct, old cocks and hens t/wires, 5th Nov, young cocks and hens t/wires, 12th Nov, old bird and young bird mated pairs, 19th Nov, old cocks handled and latebreds, 26th Nov, old hens handled and fancy t/wires, 3rd Dec, young cocks and hens handled, 10th Dec, old bird and young bird eye sign. Ballymena & Dist Show Season – Each Monday from 31st October in Ballymena & District HPS clubrooms at Fountain Place, penning 7.00pm until 8.00pm. Week 1 - 31st October. Young cocks and young hens t/w. Week 2 - 7th November. Old cocks and old hens t/w. Week 3 -14th November. Young cocks and young hens handled. Week 4 - 21st November. Old cocks and old hens handled. Week 5 - 28th November. Old pairs and young pairs t/w. Week 6 - 5th December. Old bird and young bird eye-sign. Week 7 - 12th December. Old bird and young bird fancy t/w. In the last show date 12th December all winners from the previous classes will come back to be judged for BIS, BOS and BYB over the whole show series. Open to all. Edgarstown first show will be held on Friday the 4th of November. The first show will be run by S & E Buckley, RGG Donaldson and Mullen Bros everybody welcome.

Good news from Sam Briggs that the INFC Charity Show has been arranged for Lisburn Leisure Centre on Saturday 3rd December, Raffle tickets are with most clubs to be returned to Helen Marshall by 2nd December. Many trade stands have booked space. Full details of show classes later.

The local show season kicked off last Saturday evening in the Cullybackey HPS when the local club had classes for the old birds through the wires. They continue with 5th Nov, young cocks and hens t/wires, 12th Nov, old bird and young bird mated pairs, 19th Nov, old cocks handled and late breds, 26th Nov, old hens handled and fancy t/wires, 3rd Dec, young cocks and hens handled, 10th Dec, old bird and young bird eye sign. Ballymena & District HPS commenced the winter show season with classes through the wires for young birds, judged by Bobby Coyle and Dominic Diamond from the Coleraine Premier HPS. The R & S Swann team won both classes and had the Special for Best in Show. Young Cocks T/W – 1st & 2nd R & S Swann, 3rd VHC & Commended G & A Eagleson, 4th & HC R & S Swann, Reserve B Herbison. Young Hens T/W – 1st & 2nd R & S Swann, 3rd & 4th B Herbison, Reserve & HC R & S Swann, VHC & Commended B Herbison. Week 2 - 7th November. Old cocks and old hens t/w. Week 3 -14th November. Broughshane & District HPS – Show Series on the usual Tuesday commenced on 1st November with a class for Old Cocks T/W (99 birds) – 1st C Kennedy, 2nd & 3rd W Gilbert, 4th & VHC J & J Greer, Reserve M Neilly, HC & Commended A Barkley & Son. Raffle won by J Greer. Congratulations to Colin Kennedy and all card winners tonight. The club would like to thank the judge Brian Herbison from Cullybackey and thank everyone that supported the first show of the year. Next week Old Hens T/W.

Young Hens t/wires (84 birds) – 1st & Reserve W & W Gilbert, 2nd J & J Greer, 3rd A Darragh, 4th & HC B Herbison, VHC WJ & RJ Reid, Commended A Barkley & Son. Best in show won by J & J Greer. Raffle winner S & N Doherty. Judges James O'Neill and Chris Moore (Ahoghill). A big thanks to everyone who turned up with birds. Special and BIS won by Brian Herbison. Next week young birds handled.

Broughshane & District latest show was for Old Hens through the wires, the Red Card winners were Gregg Bros from Kells & Dist. Old Hen T/W (78 Birds) – 1st Gregg Bros, 2nd J Getty, 3rd J & J Greer, 4th, VHC & HC W & W Gilbert, Reserve & Commended A Barkley & Son. Kells - Tonight we had Old Hens Through wires with 119 pigeons penned. 1st, 2nd & reserve D & R Turkington, 3rd, 4th & Commended W & W Gilbert, VHC Darren Swann, Commended Blair & Rankin. With 33 pair of old birds and 34 pair of young birds penned it was another great turn out of birds. Congratulations to Marcus Morrow winning the Red Card for the home cluband well done to Willie Gilbert from Ballymena lifting the next seven cards for a big night.
