Obituary
Irvine, Mervyn
It was with deep sadness that the members of the Irish Homing Union learned of the
death of their highly esteemed North Region President, Mervyn Irvine on 21 st November.
Mervyn was always a very hard worker at Club, Combine, Region, Supreme Council and
Irish National Flying Club level, and worked for the good of the sport throughout Ireland.
Mervyn was always one of the first to arrive at the Marking stations for both East Down
Combine and Irish National Flying Club, where he manned the rubbers section, and
always had a supply of sweets for all the helpers. I have many happy memories of
travelling to Supreme Council Meetings and to the Dublin Show with Mervyn. On behalf
of The Irish Homing Union we offer our deepest sympathy to Mervyn’s wife Philomena
and his son Patrick at this very sad time. He will be sadly missed by all the pigeon
fraternity in Ireland.
Brendan McLoughlin Secretary IHU
