Maurice Agnew tops Comb & Sect from Skibbereen Ylr Nat -

The NIPA held their Skibbereen Yearling National on Sunday 12th June. After a one-day holdover due to poor weather conditions the birds were liberated at 8.00am in southwest wind. Best bird in the local area was recorded by Maurice Agnew of Kells & District. Maurice timed his dark chequer cock at 12.28pm flying 258 miles to the lofts in Connor to win 1st Mid Antrim Combine and 1st Section B velo 1691. This cock has been in fine form all season winning 2nd club & 16th Combine from Roscrea and last weekend first club in both the Fermoy and Fermoy 5 bird and 11th MA Combine. The winning cock was gifted to Maurice by his nephew Richard Webster who races in Ballyclare. Breeding is D McElhone x Andre Nauwelaert. Maurice would like to thank Richard for his winning bird. Best in the Town and runners up in the Combine on 1651 were Johnston Eagleson & Sons of Ballymena & Dist. Sire of their blue pied hen is a Lambrecht cock that bred their Combine and Section winner from Gowran Park earlier in the season and the dam was a gift hen from Keith Kernohan of Harryville. This hen contains the best of Keith's Vermeerbergen/Wilms stock. Danny Dixon was next best on 1647 followed by Sam Crawford doing 1614. Gary Gibson on 1613 was best in Cullybackey with a son of his good Sticker Donckers "Golden Couple" Gary's blue cock won 1st club and 7th Combine in the Tullamore comeback race last season. Jimmy Smyth & Son topped Ahoghill on 1594 and John & Mark Milliken best in Rasharkin doing 1501. Mervyn Eagleson PO.

Ballymena & District HPS - Johnston Eagleson & Sons had the club winner timing a blue pied hen at 12.37pm. The Lambrecht sire also bred their Combine and Section winner from Gowran Park earlier in the season and the dam was a gift hen from Keith Kernohan of Harryville. This hen contains the best of Keith's Vermeerbergen/Wilms stock. Robin Service the hard working club treasurer was runner up 12.43pm with his good blue pied hen that won the club in both Skibbereen National's last season including 1st Mid Antrim Combine and 29th Open in the INFC Skibbereen National. The Soontjen sire has bred 13 x 1st prize-winners and it's blood runs through most of their Combine and Section winners. The dam was a gift hen from Jimmy Rock of Harryville and is bred from Jimmy's good 6 x 1st winner.
