Last weekend we had the second race of the old bird season due to a poor forecast for the race day marking was delayed until Saturday evening and birds at the local clubs were collected one hour earlier than usual. Roscrea was the venue for this latest event, a lovely morning at the race point after early morning mist and the big NIPA convoy were released at 10.00am in sunshine and a light northerly wind on Sunday 23rd April. It worked out well and local lofts enjoyed a very steady race with excellent returns. The NIPA Section G which includes Newry dominated the Open result and Owen Markey from Ballyholland had a super card and won 1st Open NIPA, the only loft exceeding 1500ypm. The race this weekend will be from Roscrea again and not Gowran Park as listed, programme will then return to what was agreed and published in NIPA Booklet.

Steady race from Roscrea last Sunday -
The second race was delayed due to unfavourable weather forecast, Saturday was ruled out for a liberation, so birds were collected for a proposed liberation in Roscrea.
Conditions at the race point were good early on Sunday morning and the big NIPA convoy was released at 10.00am in sunshine and light northerly wind. Returns were good and local lofts are now well placed for race 3. Best locally was Paddy McManus & Sons from Ahoghill, winning for the second week and 1st in the Mid Antrim Combine. Close runner-up just a yard behind was J Eagleson & Sons who were best in town and winning the club for the second week.
