John McCabe wins hard race from Pimore Beach -

It was a weekend of hard work with all those involved in the arrangements for making racing as successful as possible, and also, having regard for the members and birds themselves. The month of May is usually involved with unfavourable weather conditions, two races were being planned the usual OB Inland Nat and the comeback which this year had been arranged for Pilmore Beach. The OB Nat birds were race -marked Thursday and released one day earlier than planned on Friday. Because of the weather forecast the Pilmore Beach birds were not race marked until Sunday evening and the birds were released on Monday 22nd May at 10.00am in a fresh NW wind. The Newry area dominated the leading positions and well done to John McCabe winning 1st Open Nipa. This coming weekend it will be a race from Talbenny in South Wales and birds will be collected Thursday.

Mid Antrim Combine Pilmore Beach –
Dixon is best from Monday Pilmore - Due to poor weather conditions over the weekend the NIPA decided to race mark on the Sunday for a Monday race. Birds were released in Pilmore Beach at10am on Monday 22nd May in north north westerly winds which turned out a pretty tough race. Danny Dixon of Dunloy was best in the Mid Antrim Combine on 1197 after timing a yearling mealy cock at 15.27pm for the 222 miles fly to Dunloy. The sire is his good grizzle cock and the dam a direct Rudy Van Reeth. Last year as a youngster the cock finished 2nd Combine and 13th Section from Gowran Park beaten by his nestmate. Young & McManus & Sons were runner up in the Combine on 1183 with a 3yr old chequer cock bred from birds they bought from Arie Bustraan of the Netherlands. The cock had just taken up with a new hen after losing his old partner a couple of weeks ago. In a very close finish in Harryville Trevor Johnston just pipping his son Shane for the top spot in the club on 1183. 1 second would hace changed the result here. Trevor timed a chequer wf yearling cock bred by his cousin Chris Houston. Last season the cock won 3rd Section from Gowran Park young birds. Harold Cubitt who is having a great season with his team of widowhood cocks was best in Rasharkin for the fifth time this season on 1181. Winner this time for Harold was a blue yearling widowhood cock the dam a gift from clubmate Mark Milliken in 2018. Marcus Morrow had the top two in Broughshane on 1169, his winner a dark cheq cock on Widowhood. Sire a Lambrecht from Nigel Arthurs of Ballycarry and the dam a Van den Brande from Gary Gibson of Cullybackey. A full brother won the club from 2nd Roscrea earlier in the season. In another close finish Martin Graham pipped Johnston Eagleson & Sons to win Ballymena & District on 1167. Martin timed a yearling blue cock racing on roundabout. Sire is his 2018 INFC Sennen Cove Yearling National winner "Denman" and the dam won 13th Open INFC Penzance yb national in the smash of 2015. Gary Gibson was best in Cullybackey on 1156 with a blue wf roundabout hen bred from a Van Vugt Donckers cock paired to a daughter of Danny Dixon's good 2nd Open cock.
