N.I.P.A. LADIES NIGHT 2023

The Northern Ireland Provincial Amalgamation (N.I.P.A.) of Racing Pigeon Societies had their annual
Ladies Night Prizegiving on Friday the 10 th of November 2023 in the new venue of the Ballymac Hotel
in Dundrod Co. Antrim. The Members of the N.I.P.A. accompanied by friends and family arrived at
the Venue Suited and booted for the great occasion. Mr Pat McLaughlin the Chairman of the N.I.P.A.
got the evening underway by welcoming everyone and introducing the distinguished guests of the
evening. Mr Sammy Briggs RPRA Irish Region President, Mr Cormac O’Hare RPRA Irish Region
Chairman, Mr Noel Higginson RPRA Irish Region Secretary. Main Sponsors Frazer’s Animal Feeds of
Banbridge and Beattie’s Bird & Pet Foods of Tandragee. Accompanied by N.I.P.A. Officials Mr Paddy
Murray N.I.P.A. President, Mr Fred Russell N.I.P.A. Secretary, Mr Joey Vage N.I.P.A. Assistant
Secretary, Mr Diamond Carson N.I.P.A. Patron, Mr Jim Ramsey N.I.P.A. Race Controller. Sammy
Briggs then said Grace before the beautiful 3 course meal commenced consisting of Fresh Vegetable
broth with Wheaten Bread, Roast Irish Sirloin of Beef with Yorkshire Pudding, Horseradish Sauce,
Seasonal Vegetables & Potatoes and Fresh Fruit Pavlova with Vanilla Ice cream for Desert along with
Tea/Coffee. The Meal was enjoyed by all (and I must say the Pavlova was unbelievable) Sammy
Briggs & Cormac O’Hare got the Presentation of Awards underway with Mr Paddy Murray N.I.P.A.
President & Mrs Diane Frazer of Frazer’s Animal Feeds presenting the N.I.P.A. Awards to the Winners
along with Mr Noel Higginson RPRA Irish Region Secretary presenting the RPRA Awards to the
Winners.
The Big Accolade of the Night was won by Mr Stephen McFlynn from Castledawson H.P.S. in Section
A. Winning the Premier Old Bird National from St. Malo with ‘Peggys Boy’ a 3-Year-old Blue Cock ring
number GB 20 C 06536. Flying a total of 483 Miles in 13 Hours 42 Minutes on the Wing, Clocking a
Velocity of 1033 YPM. Winning 1 st Club, 1 st Section A, 1 st Open N.I.P.A. 1,309 Birds. Collecting the
News of the World – McComb Cup – Pigeon Portal.com Cup the Irish Region L. Boyle Trophy and
Winner of the Section A - H. Devine Cup.
One of the hardest Accolades of the N.I.P.A. to achieve is the N.I.P.A. National Champion. This was
won by Mr David Calvin of Bondhill H.P.S in Section E Winner of the N.I.P.A. Presidents Cup for top
prize winner. Winner of Section E Old Bird Channel Fancier of the year, Section E Youngbird Fancier
of the Year, Section E Champion Old Bird of the year, Section E Champion Youngbird of the year. Best
average in all channel races including Nationals, Best average Old Bird National & Classic races,
Best average in all races England and Wales, Best average 2nd Talbenny, Bude and Penzance, Best
average Old Bird and Young Bird channel Nationals, Best average all National and Classic races, Best
average Dale & Rosscarbery Young Bird Nationals, Best average in all National races, Best average
Penzance Old Bird and Dale Young Bird National, Best Average O B Inland Nat & OB & YB Channel
Nat, Best average OB & YB Rosscarbery Nationals.

After the awards presentation ended a Raffle was held with lots of good prizes, then finishing off the
night with some Live Music. Well done to Sammy Briggs, Cormac O`Hare & Diamond Carson for
organising the event with a great success in the new venue of the Ballymac Hotel. Everyone had a
brilliant night celebrating every members achievement in the 2023 Season. Congratulations to all the
many Prize Winners in 2023. It was nice to see and chat to everyone in person after talking to
everyone during the season through the phone. Thank you for everyone for the support in my first
year in the Role of N.I.P.A. Press Officer. It was an honour to be at the Ladies Night in this role and I
would like to wish all the members the very best of health and enjoyable racing in the 2024 Season.
