Skibbereen old bird inland national sponsored by Bamfords Top Flight update at 19.00 on Saturday 25th May. The race advisors are monitoring weather reports for Tuesday and Wednesday and at present conditions are unfavourable for both days. The outlook for next week is for unsettled weather with strong winds and rain. We will have a further update tomorrow (Sunday) evening. Trevor Topping.

The race advisors having looked at the weather forecasts for the incoming week have decided to put the Skibbereen OB National race back one week. Weather permitting we hope to race on Tuesday 4th June with race marking on Monday. Race marking times will be published later.

Skibbereen old bird inland national. Sponsored by Bamfords Top Flight. Sunday 2nd June 2024 @ 10:30. Race marking will take place on Monday 3rd June for a possible release in Skibbereen on Tuesday.
Skibbereen old bird national 2024 times for race marking.
12:00 to 13.30 South and middle section members and Individual south & middle section members.
13.30 to 14:45 East Down Combine, Ulster Fed., N.I.P.A. sections C, F, and G. Individual north section members.
14:45 to 15.45 N.I.P.A. sections A, B, D, E, H.
Please take care when completing your entry forms, especially when totalling them up.
Attach your payment to the entry form and put your membership number on the back of
your cheque or bank draft. If the payment covers more than one member please put all
membership numbers on the back of the cheque or draft and please attach the entry
forms together.
Payments will not be processed at the race marking to avoid queuing.
Any shortages will be removed from pool monies and any over payments will be added to
pool monies.
(This can be avoided by accurately completing your entry form and payment.)
Any members paying by euro please remember to multiply the sterling grand total by 1.25
for the currency conversion.
Any help to race mark the pigeons would be appreciated.

marking centre and respect the facilities which have been kindly granted.
Catering will be available as usual.

Skibbereen old bird inland national. Sponsored by Bamfords Top Flight. Tuesday 4th June 2024. 192 members have entered 1748 pigeons and are competing for £5,295.00 in pools and prize money. The pigeons have been released at 11:15 in a light north westerly wind. Our next update will be this evening.

Provisional top five in each section.
South Section - 1,2,3,4,5, Byrne & Bradley Newtown Killpedder velocities 1542. 4, 1542.3,1534, 1478 & 1460.
Middle Section - 1 Devine & Hilmi Skerries velocity 1606. Over all race winner. 2 & 3 Hopkins Bros & Sons Blanchardstown velocities 1583 & 1582, 4 J. Boothman Blanchardstown velocity 1575, 5 T. Kavanagh Drogheda velocity 1570
North Section - 1 & 2 J. Trimble & Grand Son Annalong velocities 1511.1 & 1511.0, 3 J. & D. Braniff Glen velocity 1510.2, 4 & 5 O. Markey Ballyholland velocities 1506 & 1503. All positions subject to change. The Top 5 n each Section should contact Homer with bird info and a photo holding the bird if possible re the race report.
Skibbereen OB National - Tuesday 4th June 2024
It was in 1932 that His Majesty King George V presented a new cup to the Irish National Flying Club to be known as The King George V Challenge Cup and was to be awarded to the winner of the OB Grand National.
The 1932 Grand National race was flown from Les Sables at a distance of some 600 miles and the race was won by R Hawthorn from Ligoniel in North Belfast.This race was flown under IHU rules and it was not until 1948 that the Kings Cup was flown under IHU and RPRA rules.The race in 1948 was won by Sammy Robinson from Belfast.
The Irish National Flying Club have a six race programme for the 2020 season which enables its members to compete in the inland Nationals or over the channel at the very highest level.
