The first race of the 2010 Old Bird season took place last weekend from Tullamore,a distance of 125 miles. Locally 52 members sent 541 birds and with a favourable forecast a very fast race was on the cards. Starting off where they finished last season is the Fed's top rated partnership of Paul & Elaine Maxwell who timed the winning bird just after the 2 hour mark to take 1st Fed,1st Section H and probable 2nd Open NIPA. This loft have 3 other timings taking 2nd, 5th & 6th Federation. Some start to the season for this partnership who are obviously setting their stall out early. 3rd spot goes to the Creggan loft of Mickey Harkin who wins the Rock Flying Club at his first attempt while the Glen loft of Leo & Barry Flanagan take 4th Fed and top spot in the Londonderry RPS.
