Clonmel - 14/08/10

Post by willie reynolds »

The City of Derry Federation was back in Cavan for a mid-week race on 4th August with 17 members sending 317 birds. Conditions were perfect and fanciers enjoyed a good race with near full returns. Taking the bulk of the positions is the Foyle Road loft of Sean Duffy who returns to winning ways to take 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th. Rock FC members Willie & Darren Hamilton pick up 3rd, 13th & 18th spots.

Other results; 10th - C McConomy & Son; 11th & 17th - A & K Mitchell; 12th - J & G Ramsey; 14th - G Mc Laughlin; 15th - Concannon Bros; 16th - J Coyle & Son; 19th - J Healy.

Cavan was again the venue for last week’s mid-week race and another good race was experienced with 32 members sending 486 birds. On this occasion the Londonderry's Noel Murray takes the honours with three birds in the result for 1st, 2nd & 5th Fed. Foyle secretary Kevin Payne takes 3rd and 12th positions with Jim & Gary Ramsey in 4th & 7th Fed.

Other results: 6th, 8th & 14th - S Duffy; 9th - J & D Kelly; 10th, 11th & 13th - J Healy.

Last weekend the NIPA moved to Clonmel, a distance of 185 miles to local lofts and with a stiff North wind prevailing, a tough event was on the cards for the 53 members sending 720 birds. Taking his second young bird Fed win is the Creggan fancier Kieran Reid who certainly has his birds well tuned for these conditions. Paul & Elaine Maxwell have a great team result with 5 birds in the counting for 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 6th & 16th. Londonderry RPS members Joe & Donal Kelly take 5th & 17th positions.

Other results: 7th - R Gallagher; 8th - E McEleney; 9th - C McConomy & Son; 10th & 15th - Quigley & Dunne; 11th - D Wick; 12th - L & G McCloskey; 13th - E Quigley; 14th - J Ebbs; 18th - W & D Hamilton; 19th - S Barker; 20th - P Breslin & Son .
