NIPA released in Fermoy on Sunday 22nd May, the birds were collected at local clubs on Saturday. The change of plan was necessary due to weather conditions, Coleraine Premier lofts are best in the Triangle with the overall winner Anthony McDonnell doing 1522, followed by J L Madden and Hanson & Harpur. G Donaghy Son & Grandson are 1st Windsor Social (1512) and Darren Tosh 1st Coleraine & County Derry (1504).

With competition at its strongest between the six clubs and pigeons battling hard with a west wind, The winner this week following on from last weeks success is the Derry and District fanciers Maxi and Connor Chism the hard work paying off also taking 12th,16th and 18th top flying. Fellow club mate Micheal Harkin has a good race claiming 2nd and 7th with Rock FC winner, also doing well with 3rd and 6th from the Maiden City rps McGettigan bros takes 4th and 17th. Seamus Morrison is 5th and Coyle Bros 8th. Rock flyer Michael McCloskey is 9th with Lweo Flannagan and son 10th. Foyle rps member Raymond O’Reilly is 11th, Anthony McCrudden Derry & district hps 13th and 20th , Strabane flyer Tommy McBride is 14th , S Gallagher and son Londonderry rps is 15th , J & G Ramsey Derry and district was 19th . Racing this week is from Talbeny in South Wales and basketing is on Thursday.

DERRY AND DISTRICT HPS RESULTS FERMOY

Recording their second win of the current old bird racing programme is the Heights Loft of Maxi and Connor Chism with his pigeons in peak condition at this time also taking 4th,6th and 7th places to make it a day to remember. 2nd and 3rd spots go to Michael Harkin who has to be happy with his performance and will push this week for a Red Card, also knocking at the door is Anthony McCrudden 5th and 9th with Jim & Gary Ramsey 8th and Sean Healy 10th .

Mid Antrim Combine Latest -

Race marking arrangements in Mid Antrim for the NIPA Yearling Nat due to be flown from Rosscarbery on Tuesday 31st May. Cullybackey Centre will be open on Friday 27th May for collection of the club entry fees. NIPA Cheque required for Cocks & Hens, to be kept separate, and two individual cheques required. Usual cheque required for the Cullybackey Centre. Race marking will be in Cullybackey on Monday 30th May between 4.30pm and 6.30pm, clubs to send two members to assist at the marking to include loading of the transporter. The T3 Clocks will be ready at 7.00pm on Monday.

Due to a poor weather forecast the birds for Fermoy were collected at the local clubs on Saturday evening. Liberation was on Sunday at 10.00am in a West NW wind. It took the birds a bit longer than expected but returns appear to have been good. The best local birds were timed in Kells & Dist, a good first win of the year for Surgenor Bros doing velocity 1600 followed by Harry Boyd. These two lofts take the top places in the Mid Antrim Combine with just short of 1,700 birds competing. Other winners well placed included Jimmy Rock 1st Harryville (1592), McFall & McManus 1st New Antrim (1588), J & N Simpson 1st Broughshane (1578), W & J Smyth 1st Ballymena & Dist (1577) and J & J Greer 1st Cullybackey (1573).
