“INTERNATIONAL PRESS RELEASE”
THE 16th SUN CITY MILLION DOLLAR
(THE RACE WITH THE PROVEN TRACK RECORD)
(THE GREATEST PIGEON RACE IN THE WORLD)
DUE TO BE HELD IN SUN CITY, SOUTH AFRICA ON
SATURDAY 28th JANUARY 2012.
REPORT ON TRAINING RACE 16.
ANOTHER RIGHT CHRISTMAS CRACKER FOR
THE UNITED KINGDOM TEAM.
OUR NATIONAL TEAM HAS NOW WON 5 x 1sts,
2 x 2nds, 2 x 3rds, 2 x 4ths, 3 x 5ths, 3 x 6ths & LOTS OF OTHER TOP TEN POSITIONS, PLUS 3 BRAND NEW MOTOR CARS, 11 x US$1000 CAR RACE HOT SPOT CASH PRIZES AND A US$2,000 2-BIRD AVERAGE CASH PRIZE IN THE FIRST 19 RACES IN THE 2011/12 SUN CITY MILLION DOLLAR PIGEON RACE SERIES.
I thought that everybody should be officially notified that after the first three Car Race Hot Spot races in the 2011/12 race series the average lose is only 1.67% which really is a remarkable achievement in a one loft race history anywhere in the world. Car Race Hot Spot 1 from 121 miles showed a 100% return, then Car Race Hot Spot 2 from 160 miles showed a 95.57% return rate and then on Car Race Hot Spot 3 from 189 miles we had a 99.43% return rate, which relates to a average 98.33% return rate over these three races, all which had an entry of over 4,000 pigeons competing. The other fantastic news is that the United Kingdom Team have actually won the Brand New Motor Car in each of these first three races, plus they have also picked up 11 x US$1,000 (£667) Car Race Hot Spot Cash Prizes and one of the US$2,000 Cash Prizes for winning the 2 Bird Average, plus literally thousands of dollars have been won in the Global Nominations.
A further week of daily training under their belts and the official basketing list appeared on the SCMDPR web site on Friday 23rd December 2011 for TRAINING RACE 16, which was due to take place on Saturday 24th December from 130km (approx. 81 miles) and this showed a total of 4,057 pigeons were competing (yet another record entry for this race) and this figure included 3,445 International, which included 314 from the United Kingdom and 44 from Ireland, plus 612 pigeons from South Africa. However because of early heavy rain at the selected race point it was decided to bring the pigeons back and liberate them from the 82km (51 miles) race point. The liberation finally took place at 09-40 in cool and overcast cloudy conditions, 17c (63f), with a head wind and a good race was anticipated by the loft managers and Zandy Meyer (Race Director). Unfortunately, just after the pigeons started to arrive the telephone lines to the Sun City Resort went down which delayed the result being published on the SCMDPR web site. The race organisers can only apologise for this slight hiccup and the delay in the official result being published as quickly as it usually is. As usual the race team put information on the web site as to why the results were not on and also stated later that 3,500 pigeons had been officially clocked before 11-55. The weather forecast was also updated at 11-00 and stated light rain showers, 18c (65f) with little to no wind. The phone lines were finally working again at 13-55 (11-55 GMT) and the result was officially published for all to see.

However 4 more UK pigeons returned by Christmas Day and the loft listing showed 315 UK pigeons in the lofts.
CONGRATULATIONS for winning 1st IRELAND, 20th OPEN and “FLYING THE NATIONAL FLAG” goes to FAYS with pigeon named BETTY which was clocked at 10-36-28.31, just 49.75 seconds behind the race winner, 2nd Ireland, 164th Open to Bernard Smyth, this pigeon has flown well in this race series, 3rd Ireland, 248th Open to Philip + Mark Smith, 4th Ireland, 299th Open another for Bernard Smyth which has already won quite a few top positions in this race series, 5th Ireland, 337th Open to Maurice O’Donnell and then 6th Ireland, 372nd Open to Paul Poole and Son. All these pigeons mentioned above have won Nomination Monet throughout this race series. ANOTHER FANTASTIC UNITED KINGDOM TEAM PERFORMANCE AND WELL DONE TO ALL FANCIERS CONCERNED.
The CASCADE CHALLENGE was a new competition introduced two years ago and it has created a great deal of interest. It is basically a SINGLE PIGEON NOMINATION and any pigeon can be entered for just US$10 (approx. £6.50p) but the “POT OF GOLD” can only be won if one of these nominated pigeons actually wins 1st OPEN, if not it is like the National Lottery, it just rolls over to the following nomination race or until somebody finally wins the jackpot. You do not have to enter the same pigeon in every nomination race, the choice is yours.
CASCADE CHALLENGE for TRAINING RACE 16 showed a total of US$8,247-50c (approx. £5,500) and had attracted 146 nominations which included 14 from the United Kingdom and 2 from Ireland. This cash prize was not won and will now be carried over to CAR RACE HOT SPOT 4 which will take place on Thursday 29th December. The pigeon that came 2nd OPEN for TEAM WESTENHOLZ from GERMANY just missed out by 03-45 seconds from winning this cash prize. The nearest UNITED KINGDOM pigeon took 28th OPEN for P and D CLARKE from SEVENASH with pigeon named DANNY C. The nearest IRELAND pigeon took 299th OPEN for BERNARD SMYTH with his pigeon named CONOR G. WELL DONE TO THESE TWO FANCIERS.
