2012 - Season of Celebration

Post by willie reynolds »

Season of Celebration for the INFC –

The INFC with 2,000 plus members across Ireland are looking forward to a season of celebration, remember the closing date for membership is Saturday 28th April. Membership fee is £15 for existing members and for those not members in 2011 the fee is £25. Forms for new members are available for download on www.infc.co.uk

A new Clock Station has been agreed for Cork City adding to those already established in Southern Ireland at Balbriggan, Stillorgan and Wexford. All arrangements have been made for the new racing season and £2,000 has been added to the prize list for the Yearling Nat and Friendship Nat. The Yearling Nat was introduced to the race programme as a Jubilee Race in 1977 from Penzance and won by Toland & Campbell of Lurgan, since then it has become one of the most popular and well supported races of each season. I well remember the late LO Barr and myself putting this race forward at the AGM at the time. It was officially added to the race programme in 1978 and the first winner of the Nelson Corry Cup was the late W V Troughton from Gilford. In 2012 the Yearling Nat will be a Diamond Jubilee event with Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals going to 1st, 2nd & 3rd Open INFC and a further addition of a Free Nom with 10 Prizes of £100.

The Friendship Nat which in 2012 will be flown from Quimper will be the Olympic Friendship Nat and additional awards will be the same as those for the Yearling Nat, Medals for 1st, 2nd & 3rd Open plus 10 Prizes of £100 in the Free Nomination.

PO Brendan McLoughlin will cover the detailed report.
