RESULTS FOR TRAINING FLIGHTS 10 & 11.
TRAINING FLIGHT 10 took place on Wednesday 19th December 2012 from 78km (48 miles) and the basketing list on the official web site showed a total of 3,303 pigeons were basketed and this total was made up by 2,950 International, which included 303 United Kingdom and 43 Irish pigeons plus 353 from South Africa.
The convoy were liberated at 07.30 in fine and clear conditions, light head wind, with temperature of 19c (66f) and a good race was expected.
The OPEN result was as follows and CONGRATULATIONS goes to Fassio Loft from United States Of America who took 1st Open with pigeon named Creation in Time which was clocked at 08.28.57.86 to record a velocity of 1431ypm (48mph), 2nd just 00.31 seconds later Gottlieb Poeckl from Austria, 3rd Mishel Ead from Kuwait, 4th Peter + Milan Wynants from Belgium, 5th Bunndyrock from Australia, 6th Italian Team – Celli + Padovano from Italy, 7th Wegh Racing Team from Netherlands, 8th Team Club Muensterland from Germany, 9th Sam Syndicate from Netherlands, 10th Kelly, Van Boxmeer and Sparkes from United Kingdom, 11th Josef Lang from Germany, 12th Bart en Nance Van Oeckel from Belgium, 13th Aldahoum Loft from Kuwait, 14th Theo u Markus Lecke from Germany, 15th Barry Yu from United States Of America, 16th Hans Schougaard from Denmark, 17th Ferenc Butyka from Austria, 18th Altkins + Soudy from Germany, 19th Team Camilleri Bros and Daum from Malta and 20th Team D87 from Germany. The time gap between the first 20 pigeons was just 09.65 seconds and a total of 11 different countries were represented in this result. Something that should be mentioned is that the first eight positions went to pigeons from different countries. A total of 3,267, pigeons were officially recorded on the day up to 17.13, leaving 36 still to make it back to the lofts.
CONGRATULATIONS for winning 1st UK, 10th Open went to Kelly, Van Boxmeer and Sparkes with pigeon named Premier Choice, which was officially clocked at 08.29.02.68 just 04.79 seconds behind the actual race winner. This pigeon was bred at Premier Stud from Patringham Haven, 2nd UK, 28th Open Myrtle Lofts – Evans + Walker with pigeon bred by Mark & Dickie Evans from Whitley Bridge, 3rd UK, 38th Open C Brown – V Mudd – P Oberholster with a pigeon bred by Pieter Oberholster from Keysoe, 4th UK, 41st Open Team Thomas with pigeon bred by Jackson-Andrew-Kirby from Asselby, 5th UK, 55th Open Priddle Of Woolston with pigeon bred by Phil Priddle from Southampton, 6th UK, 76th Open Guys Lofts with pigeon bred by Graham Guy from Wolverhampton, 7th, 9th & 16th UK, 84th, 120th & 206th Open Mark Gilbert from Windsor, 8th & 15th UK, 108th & 190th Open Lloyd and Kelly from Abingdon, 10th & 12th UK, 128th & 162nd Open Carlos Dream Syndicate, administered by Paul Smith from Stansted Mountfitchet and with two pigeons bred by Jos Reilly from Dublin, 11th UK, 131st Open Syndicate Lofts UK with pigeon bred by Peter Fox from Bangor, 13th & 19th UK, 173rd & 243rd Open Cullinane and Son from Todmorden, 14th UK, 186th Open Scotland’s Own Syndicate with pigeon bred by Willy & Barry Kinnear from Edinburgh, 17th UK, 215th Open David Hinkel from Wimbledon Common, 18th UK, 224th Open Whiskey Galore with pigeon bred by Wally & Ian Gray from Birgham and 20th UK, 248th Open Diamonds Are Forever Syndicate with another pigeon bred by Jackson-Andrew-Kirby from Asselby. A total of 298 UK pigeons were officially recorded on the day, leaving 5 still to return to base camp.
CONGRATULATIONS for winning 1st Ireland, 65th Open went to Mousies Dream Team with pigeon named The Deise Rocket which was clocked at 08.29.35.26 just 37.40 seconds behind the race winner, This pigeon has already scored numerous times in this 2012/13 race series, 2nd Ireland, 85th Open Jos Reilly – Team Ireland, 3rd Ireland, 193rd Open Aurea Dream Team Eire, 4th Ireland, 295th Open Bernard Symth – Gordon Bros., 5th Ireland, 331st Open Philip + Mark Smith and 6th Ireland, 355th Open David and Bernie Brown. A total of 43 Irish pigeons were recorded on the day, leaving no pigeons to return to the lofts.
THE OVERALL GRAND AVERAGES WHICH OFFERS A US$10,000 (£6,500), US$5,000 (£3,250) and US$2,500 (£1,625) CASH PRIZES in this category results after 13 official races currently stands as follows:- 1st Helmut Heiland from Germany with his pigeon named Harry with a combined flying time of 17.40.33.71. The first six positions are all held by pigeons from different countries. The first UK pigeon holds 5th Open and is owned by Pieter Oberholster from Keysoe with his pigeon named Obi See You with a combined flying time of 17.58.06.85. There are 7 UK pigeons in the top 100 in this category. The first Irish pigeon holds 81st Open and is owned by Moran + Bowden with their pigeon named Tiny Tegan with a combined flying time of 18.57.37.69.
CASCADE CHALLENGE had 116 entries for Training Flight 10 and this included 11 pigeons from the UK and only 1 from Ireland. The “POT OF GOLD” of US$5,128 (£3,419)
was not won and this sum will be carried over to TRAINING FLIGHT 11, the nearest pigeon won 44th Open for Royal Gem Syndicate from South Africa with their pigeon named Royal Pearl. The best UK pigeon took 828th Open for Keith Warnes and Five Optimists from Norwich. The best Irish pigeon took 65th Open for Mousies Dream Team with pigeon named The Deise Rocket.
GLOBAL NOMINATIONS for this race amounted to US$2,914.65c (£1,943) and had a total of 122 pigeons entered and this included 3 UK and 2 Irish pigeons, with as total of 383 nominations. There were no UK winners. However, the Irish syndicate Mousies Dream Team took 65th Open with pigeon named The Deise Rocket and it won US$117 (£78) for its efforts. UNITED KINGDOM NOMINATIONS were again poorly supported with only two pigeons entered and 6 nominations, some of which was returned because of not enough entries but Pieter Oberholster from Keysoe with his pigeon named Obi See You which won US$17.85c (£12) for its efforts. CONGRATULATIONS TO THIS FANCIER WHO HAS ALREADY WON NUMEROUS NOMINATIONS IN THIS RACE SERIES.
TRAINING FLIGHT 11 took place on Saturday 22nd December 2012 from 114km (71 miles) and the basketing list on the official web site showed a total of 3,294 pigeons being basketed and this total included 2,941 International, which included 302 United Kingdom and 43 Irish pigeons, plus 353 South African pigeons.
The convoy were liberated at 07.30 in fine and clear conditions with a light head wind and temperature of 20c (68f) and a reasonable race was expected.
The OPEN result was as follows and CONGRATULATIONS goes to Richard Callahan from United States Of America who took 1st Open with his pigeon named Sailors Fancy which was officially clocked at 08.59.12.27 to record a winning velocity of 1404ypm (48mph), this pigeon had also taken 1st Open in Training Flight 4, 2nd Jos Reilly – Team Ireland from Republic Of Ireland, 3rd Anfield Lofts from Zimbabwe, 4th Kadar and Nadia Ahmed from South Africa, 5th Team Ruhr – Brockamp from Germany, 6th George Oswald from Germany, 7th Club Jeffreysbaai Duiwe Klub from South Africa, 8th Raf and Lars Luyckx from Belgium,
9th Mershed Jedova Alnamian from Kuwait, 10th Anthony Loft from United States Of America, 11th Henrik Meldgaard from Denmark, 12th Bredenhand and Viljoen from South Africa, 13th Claude Rothgiesser from Canada, 14th Fanie Kruger from South Africa, 15th Anton Pfaffenberger from Austria, 16th Tean Esser – Klaas from Germany, 17th Team Ruhr from Germany, 18th Buttner G I A from Poland, 19th Abdulwahab Ali Aldahoum from Kuwait and 20th Dubrovnik Croatien from Hungary. The time gap between the first 20 pigeons was just 18.90 seconds and a total of 12 different countries were represented in this result. A total of 3,195 pigeons were clocked on the day up to 18.21, leaving 99 still to make it back to the lofts. Another 37 worked back on Sunday, leaving just 62 missing.
CONGRATULATIONS for winning 1st UK, 24th Open went to Myrtle Lofts – Evans + Walker with their winning pigeon named Myrtle Imperial bred by Mark & Dickie Evans from Whitley Bridge. Their winner was officially clocked at 08.59.32.87 just 20.59 seconds behind the actual race winner and had previously won 9th Training Flight 6 and then 26th in Training Flight 11, 2nd UK, 25th Open Paul Smith Syndicate, administered by Paul Smith from Stansted Mountfitchet and with a pigeon bred by Jimmy Richards from Laindon, 3rd UK, 44th Open Guys Lofts Elite with pigeon bred by Graham Guy from Wolverhampton, 4th UK, 49th Open Lucky Devils Syndicate, administered by Paul Smith and with a pigeon bred by Jos Reilly from Dublin, 5th UK, 50th Open Syndicate Lofts UK with pigeon bred by Peter Fox from Bangor, 6th UK, 59th Open Gribbles Choice with a pigeon bred by Phillip Bond & Son from Torquay, 7th UK, 68th Open Pieter Oberholster from Keysoe, 8th & 14th UK, 77th & 169th Open Diamonds Are Forever Syndicate with two pigeons bred by Jackson-Andrew-Kirby from Asselby, 9th UK, 130th Open McConnell – NFC Nom Saints, 10th UK, 134th Open Harbro Rowdies, administered by Ken Chapman from Leicester with pigeon bred by Adrian Duggins, 11th UK, 139th Open Keeping Up With The Jones with pigeon bred by Robbie Jones from Southampton, 12th UK, 147th Open Blanefield Lofts, 13th UK, 164th Open Paul Bamford from Pembroke, 15th UK, 189th Open Ian Stafford – James Parker from Tyne & Wear, 16th UK, 194th Open Mark Gilbert from Windsor, 17th UK, 211th Open Crammond and Langstaff from Fontwell, 18th UK, 233rd Open Manchester Maestros with pigeon bred by Crehan & O’Connor from Salford, 19th UK, 245th Open Carlos Dream Syndicate, administered by Paul Smith, with pigeon bred by Jos Reilly from Dublin and then 20th & 21st UK, 270th & 296th Open Paul Smith Syndicate with two more pigeons bred by Jimmy Richards from Laindon. A total of 290 UK pigeons were officially recorded on the day, leaving 12 still to make it back to the lofts. Another 4 pigeons returned to the lofts on Sunday, leaving just 8 to return.
CONGRATULATIONS for winning 1st Ireland, 2nd Open was Jos Reilly – Team Ireland with their pigeon named Jos 13 bred by Jos Reilly from Dublin which was clocked at 08.59.13.17 just 00.89 seconds behind the race winner, 2nd Ireland, 21st Open another for Jos Reilly – Team Ireland, 3rd Ireland, 162nd Open Bernard Smyth – Gordon Bros., 4th Ireland, 241st Open Universal Warrior and then 5th & 6th Ireland, 380th & 387th Open O’Donnell ABU Lofts with two pigeons bred by Maurice O’Donnell. A total of 42 Irish pigeons were officially recorded on the day, leaving just 1 still to return to the lofts. The last Irish pigeon returned to the lofts on Sunday.
THE OVERALL GRAND AVERAGES category results after 14 official races currently stands as follows:- 1st Open goes to Helmut Heiland from Germany with his great pigeon named Harry with a combined flying time of 19.12.29.54. The first UK pigeon is holding 3rd Open and belongs to Pieter Oberholster from Keysoe with his pigeon named Obi See You with a combined flying time of 19.28.08.60. This pigeon has also won quite a few top positions in the first 12 races. There are 4 UK pigeons in this top 48 in this category. The first Irish pigeon holds 76th Open and belongs to Moran + Bowden with pigeon named Big Roberto with a combined flying time of 20.33.31.80.

The remaining race programme will be as follows:- HOT SPOT CAR RACE 4 (*) on Saturday 29th December 2012 from 300km (186 miles), Training Flight 12 (*) on Wednesday 2nd January 2013 from 80km (50 miles), Training Flight 13 (*) on Saturday 5th January 2013 from 125km (78 miles), Training Flight 14 (*) on Wednesday 9th January 2013 from 80km (50 miles), HOT SPOT CAR RACE 5 (*) on Saturday 12th January from 350km (218 miles), Training Flight 15 (*) on Saturday 19th January 2013 from 80km (50 miles), Training Flight 16 (*) on Wednesday 23rd January 2013 from 80km (50 miles), Training Flight 17 (*) on Saturday 26th January 2013 from 125km (78 miles) and then THE FINAL RACE (*) on Saturday 2nd February 2013 from 550km (342 miles). ALL THESE RACES WILL TAKE PLACE ON THE APPOINTED DAY PROVIDING THE WEATHER IS SUITABLE FOR THE LIBERATION AND RACE TO TAKE PLACE, IF NOT THEY COULD BE FLOWN ON ANOTHER DAY WHEN THE WEATHER FORECAST WAS MORE FAVOURABLE. ONLY RACES OF 50KM (31 MILES) OR OVER COUNT TOWARDS THE ACE PIGEON AWARDS. ALL THE NOMINATION RACES ARE ALL MARKED WITH AN ASTERIX (*) NEXT TO THE FLIGHT OR RACE.
In the GLOBAL NOMINATIONS for TRAINING FLIGHT 11 there were a total of 210 pigeons entered and this included 22 from the UK and 5 from Ireland and there was a total of 667 Nominations and US$4,937.65c (£3,292) was up for grabs. Only one UK pigeon won any money and this was 44th Open Guys Lofts Elite with pigeon named Angies Star bred by Graham Guy from Wolverhampton which won US$212.50c (£142) for its effort. CONGRATULATIONS TO THIS UNITED KINGDOM WINNER. UK COUNTRY NOMINATIONS only had a 3 pigeons entered and 7 Nominations and Pieter Oberholster from Keysoe won 68th Open with pigeon named Obi See You which won US$14.45c (£9.60p) for its effort.
CASCADE CHALLENGE is basically a “Single Pigeon Nomination” at a cost of US$10 (£6-50) per pigeon. Only one pigeon in each syndicate can be entered and to win this “Pot Of Gold” a nominated pigeon has to win 1st Open. If not then whatever is in the pot carries forward to the next Nomination Flight. In TRAINING FLIGHT 11 there was a total of 150 pigeons entered and that contained 15 UK and 2 Irish pigeons and “THE POT OF GOLD” and US$6,403 (£4,269) was not won and will be carried over to CAR RACE HOT SPOT 4. The nearest pigeon took 8th Open for Raf + Lars Luyckx from Belgium with named Mirala 2. The best UK pigeon was Obi See You bred by Pieter Oberholster from Keysoe which took 68th Open. The best Irish pigeon was Joes Delight 2 bred by Maurice O’Donnell from ABU Lofts which took 387th Open. GOOD LUCK IN THE NEXT ROUND TO ALL ENTRANTS.
Of course before you can actually NOMINATION a pigeon or pigeons or put a pigeon in the CASCADE CHALLENGE you must have the appropriate funds in your AS account. So if you wish to have a bit of extra fun during the 2012/13 race series please contact your Country Shipper as soon as possible who will then pass your funds over to the race organisers so that you have enough funds in your AS account to have a little gamble.
