Mullingar - 03/08/13

The East Down Combine was formed in 1967 and caters for pigeons fanciers within the County of Down in Northern Ireland. There are currently 22 clubs with approx 200 members sending a birdage of up to 5,000 pigeons each week. The Combine is currently spilt into 2 Section with a line running North to South creating an East to West Section. The membership currently race for 40 Open positions and 20 Section positions on a weekly basis. The Combine is affiliated to The Irish Homing Union Regulating and Promoting the Sport of Pigeon Racing in Ireland since 1895. Portavogie top the East Down Combine from Mullingar -

After two races from Navan the East Down Combine moved on to Mullingar last Saturday, best results were in Portavogie with Brian Young 1st, 2nd & 4th Open and B & J Donnan 3rd Open. Gordon Bros & Sons from Gloughey had the Card of the Day having a dozen birds placed in the Top 20, and after winning 1st Open in the previous two races Jim Young & Partners from Dundonald take 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the West Section. Racing of the highest standard this, a top loft.
