Many in Northern Ireland awoke to a typical summers morning on Saturday with glorious Blue Skies and strong sunshine, better weather for the start off the O/Bird season you couldn’t have wished for, not to warm but yet not to cold with the wind a fresh South/South Westerly. The strings were cut on the large convoy of 20,000+ pigeons, and at 9.00am the birds were liberated in Tullamore for what many already new was going to be a quick affair. Best reported velocity as we go to press is the 2008 Orchard Combine Fancier of the Year Nelson Weir of Loughgall. Last year Nelson topped the NIPA Open Twice and the Orchard Combine on no less than 8 occasions, he has started 2009 with a fantastic team result.

Well done to Havern Bros who top the Club in the 1st race of 2009. We are very appreciative to all members of the Clubs who are supplying the results, it takes a level of loyalty and dedication to either phone with the result each week or better still enter it on the http://www.pigeonnetwork.com website. If you did well in your Club this week and your result isn’t in then we didn’t receive it as of mid-night on Sunday evening. We would encourage all Clubs to send their info in, and with an excellent results data base on the pigeonnetwork.com site if all clubs in all organisations in Ireland were putting their results on after the race, all fanciers would know who is wining what, the service is their to be used Ladies and Gents. He has continued this year again in hot form and when I check back I see he finished 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th and 6th in this same race last year with 70 less pigeons competing, how’s that for consistency year in year out. Well Done Mark.
