McGettigan Family Fundraiser Sale - 15/04/15

Local fanciers in Derry City have organised a Young Bird sale at 7.30pm on the 15th April in the Rocking Chair bar to help support fellow fancier, John McGettigan and his family in their fund raising campaign. As well as donations from local North West clubs top fanciers from within the NIPA are supporting this sale including Willie Neill, Bingham & Seaton, Alan Hall, Kevin Carolan, Davy Mawhinney etc. Anyone wishing to support the sale can contact Pat Mc Laughlin, Maiden City, Jim Ramsey, Derry & Dist, or Derek Simpson, Londonderry RPC.

Great night in the Rocking Chair Bar and well done to all the lads who supported the sale- the donors,the buyers,those who made donations those who travelled a distance to attend,those who helped out in any way- special thanks to the man who sold the birds and kept everyone entertained-Mr Steven Mc Garry. To Leo Flanagan and Jim Braniff who drove miles to collect pigeons for the sale.To Kieran Quigley whose help you can always rely on. A total of £3,700 was raised from the sale on behalf of our fellow fancier John Mc Gettigan. A final figure will be posted as soon as time allows. Well done all.

Last nights sale was an absolute success with 51 lots raising a £3,700. With donations from other fanciers as well as contributions from the City of Derry Fed, the 2014 Fed and the Derry Pigeon Show committee together with a raffle sponsored by the NCC and Harkins Feed Suppliers, the toal raised will be in excess of £6,000.A big thank you to New Kid On The Block for volunteering his services and keeping us well entertained. Thanks again to all the fanciers both locally and further afield for putting up young birds. Thanks also to the buyers who dug deep to support the sale and those individuals who made donations.
