Roy Clements tops Combine & Section -

Saturday was the final race of the young bird season, the race was Rosscarbery YB Inland National and the birds were released at 10.00am in a Lt Westerly wind. Despite the conditions the birds made light work of the journey from County Cork exceeding a mile a minute. Best bird locally was timed by R H Clements of the Harryville HPS, his Mealy cock timed at 2.08pm recorded velocity 1798 for the 253 miles. The sire was bred from a Vermeerbergen Mealy cock paired with a hen with similar bloodlines from Keith Kernohan, while the dam was bred from the Ray Forbes Soontjen pair. The cock had already won from Roscrea and scores a top prize in the final race, 1st Combine, 1st Sect B & 79th Open NIPA.

The RPRA (Irish Region) details are listed in the recent BHW, all claims by 3 rd October. Mileage Awards are as usual – 0-250 Miles, 251-450 Miles, Over 450 Miles, Best Single Bird Performance OB or YB, Young Fancier for any of the above 8-16yrs racing on own.
