Dundonald Lofts Triumph from Tullamore races writes Clifford Browne
Since my last report on the East Down Combine two more races have been flown both from Tullamore and as you have probably worked out by now I was away on holiday for the second of these so this week am playing catch up. Let’s start with the second race from Tullamore which flown on August 8th and is the most recent. With a convoy approaching 6,000 birds the weather on the 8th saw a SW wind and the birds were away at 9am and both these races from Tullamore saw winning velocities in excess of a mile a minute with this second Tullamore being won on a velocity of 1872 whilst the first Tullamore on August 1st and also liberated at 9am saw the leading bird doing in excess of 1990 ypm but both these races saw the Open winners to lofts of the Dundonald club. From the first Tullamore it was Roy Irwin with the top three Open and Section with little separating them and these were followed by three to fellow club members Cowan & McCartney and these 6 birds were the top 6 in the West section. In the East section McComb Bros of Killyleagh Central took the top 4 places followed by Gordon bros & Sons with Bangor’s David Shaw in 6th spot. Again some tremendous individual loft performances.
From The second Tullamore it was Dundonald’s Jim Young and Partners topping the Open and West Section taking 1st and 2nd in open and section.
