Dominic Carton, Waterford -

Post by willie reynolds »

It is with a sad heart that I type this as I have lost a dear friend Dominic Carton from Waterford .Dom had been sick for a while and sadly lost his battle against his illness .I have lots of great memory\'s about Dom and the many things that I did with him over the years .Lots and lots of storeys to tell again that have been told many times already which gave many people alot of laughs including Dominic and myself .Dom was a great bird man and whether it was goldfinchs, linnets ,Mules or racing pigeons he could hold his own along side the best .He was also very fond of his lurchers and loved to watch a good fair course but hadn\'t kept a lurcher for a few years as his bad knees prevented him from going out the country as he would have loved to in previous times .Many a very good mule or finch I got from him over the years and he took alot of pride with the way the mule was properly struck .With racing pigeons he was a north road flyer to the bone and raced in the Munster federation for many many years with great success topping the fed numerous times also but over the last few years Dominic kept his beloved rollers and no longer kept racing pigeons and boy did he know his stuff about them as he competed with them at world championship level and was one of the very best in the world winning many titles at world championships flys .Dominic was one of those people who could sit and have a conversation with anyone and about any thing as he was well up to date on most subjects and if you wanted a good honest non biased opinion on any subject he was always a good choice to ask his views.Dominic has been coming up to visit me now for so many years that I will miss his company very much .Condolences to Dominics wife Angella and all his family at this hard time . Funeral arrangements are as follows Thompson barrack st Tuesday at 6 o clock to Ferrybank 10 o clock mass Wednesday morning .Rest in Peace Dom . Jimmy Hamilton.
