NIPA cross channel season moved on to Bude following two races from South Wales, liberation time last Saturday was at the early time of 6.30am in a Lt South West wind. Winners made very good time but the race was erratic anf a number of birds were missing on the dy. Overall winners were J & J Scates from the Titanic HPS in Belfast.

Randalstown lofts best in Bude -
Last weekend the local birds were competing from Bude in Cornwall, liberation on Saturday 3rd June was 6.30am in a Lt South West wind, most lofts had birds missing but the winners as usual made good time. Randalstown had the best birds a close finish between Old Hand Hugh Boyd and the Dickey Family with birds around the same time. Hugh timed his yearling Blue cock at 11.40am flying 282 miles to record velocity 1600ypm. The sire had won prizes from Talbenny and Penzance and the dam was a gift from club-mate Anthony McNeill who has a good record at the distance. The Dickey bird was from Direct Sticker Doncker sire to 6th Open Friendship National for L & S O'Neil & Sons 2016, now sire to 2nd Section B & 11th Open Bude 2017 when paired to a Leslie Madden Lambrecht hen. Rasharkin & Dist lofts will compete in the Champions League from Penzance, former winners Danny Dixon v J & M Milliken. The final of the OB Knock-Out also from Penzance will be between Young McManus & Sons (Ahoghill) v Gibson & O’Neill (Associate).

Winner from the cross channel race from Bude is the club secretary J L Madden with a flyer to take top spot in the club. Leslie is renowned as a sprint loft but every now and again when conditions are right he can put out a good one. Well done Leslie Madden on a good win in an erratic race. Hanson & Harpur take the pools. Spare a thought for Bobby Coyle, bridesmaid past three channel races. Bobby you are knocking on the door mate - Keep at it.
