1,2,3 OPEN RESULT FOR McCOMB BROS
3rd August 2017
The third Young Bird race for the East Down Combine’s season saw the birds in Mullingar on July 29th , a change , as mentioned last week from the original programme and with the other transporter back in service there was no limit restriction on entries this week . The wind was South West an indication that a fast race was on the cards and as heavy showers were forecast for later in the day the birds were released at 10am which saw the majority home before lunchtime .
Leading the Combine this week were McComb Bros of Killyleagh Central who had a brilliant race taking the top three in both the Open and the East Section with the three almost together and their next bird takes 7th open . At 4th and 5th open were the St.Malo winners Jim & Ronnie Young with two trapping together with the Top six in the open being Completed by Cloughey’s Cully & Monan .
With the West in the wind Cloughey , Portavogie & Killyleagh clubs dominated the top 29 places in the open and East Section with velocities well in the 1900’s
The West section was won by Crossgar’s McCartan & Woodsides with Dundonald & Ballylesson clubs taking the bulk of this section positions .
