Obituary Charlie Young - Ahoghill Flying Club

Post by willie reynolds »

YOUNG, Charlie:

It is with great sadness and deep regret that the members and friends of Ahoghill FC inform the the fancy of the passing of our clubmate Charlie Young after a short illness. Charlie passed away in Antrim Hospital on 2nd of December aged 67. In life he was a family man at heart, he had a superb and long career in pigeon racing with many top results achieved especially from the distance events which he was very passionate about. Charlie will be greatly missed by his Family and Friends and very much by his clubmates at Ahoghill FC where he was part of the fabric for many years.

Chris Moore (Secretary) and all members of Ahoghill FC.

I have had the sad news that Charlie Young passed away on Saturday morning in hospital, due to health problems he had given the birds up in the last season. Always willing to help out he remained a non-racing member of the club and done Ring Secretary, it’s ironic the race rings for the 2018 season were also delivered on Saturday. Charlie scored many top results over the years and especially enjoyed the long distance events, brother Albert passed away at the start of 2016 season he was club Secretary for many years and his other brother Tom continues in the club as Chairman. Charlie loved the pigeon debate and was always the centre of attention when I called at the club for training the birds. The funeral service was held on Tuesday in Brookside Presbyterian Church followed by interment, at the adjoining burying ground. Donations in lieu of flowers to British Lung Foundation c/o Logan’s Funeral Services, 12 The Diamond Ahoghill, BT42 1JZ. Charlie will be sadly missed, sincere condolences to the entire family circle at this sad time. HOMER.
