Davy Jackson best from Penzance – Ahoghill win Champions League

The final race prior to the big Derby and National events from France was flown last weekend from Penzance, after many weather difficulties over the entire old bird programme the cross channel events all worked out well. The NIPA released almost 6,000 birds in Penzance on Saturday 22ns June at 6.45am wind Lt SE. Best bird was timed just short of six hours for the 325 mile flight into Mid Antrim, Davy Jackson from Kells & Dist recorded velocity 1598 to finish 1st MAC, 1st Sect B and 5th Open NIPA while in the duplicate OB Classic finished 1st MAC, 1st Sect B & 3rd Open NIPA. Other lofts well placed included Gary Gibson Cullybackey, Surgenor Bros Kells, W & J Smyth Ballymena, R H Clements Harryville, M/M Robinson Ahoghill and Stewart Bros Randalstown.

First bird a 2 year old blue chequer cock on widowhood was the best bloodlines from their good friend Jackie Traynor of Co. Durham. The second 2 year old blue cock again on widowhood is Frans Zwol from William Donachie of Scotland. This super racing cock won 1st Section and 3rd Open NIPA Roscrea in April.
