Fleming Bros top Sect B from Fermoy –
For the 5th race of the young bird season, the second with a mass liberation last weekend the Mighty NIPA were in Fermoy in County Cork. Some 14,500 birds were liberated on Saturday 17th August at the early time of 8.15am and the birds romped home in the helping Southwest wind. The Antrim Area dominated the top positions in the local Section B with the best birds timed in Crumlin & District and a photo finish between Fleming Bros who had already won 1st Open a couple of weeks earlier from Tullamore in the second Area Liberation. McConville Bros were next best with two early arrivals followed by Alan Steele of Muckamore HPS and Stewart Bros of Randalstown.

Best in the Mid Antrim Combine this week are brother and sister partnership William and Jean McLean from Rasharkin & Dist. They timed their blue chequer hen at 11.14am for the 206 mile fly to the lofts. The winning hen was bred by club-mate Jackie Steele and is from a sister of Jackie's famous 02 Cock. It's the lofts second Combine win of the season have won 1st MA Combine and 13th Open NIPA in the Fermoy 5 Bird OB Classic. Additionally this week they win 1st NIPA Sect A, a fantastic all round result. The NIPA birds were in Fermoy County Cork, 14,581 birds were released on Saturday at 8.15am in a helping Southwest wind.

Randalstown HPS 4/98 – Stewart Bros 2005, 1979, W & W Gilbert 1848, J Millar 1831, Stewart Bros 1827, N Percy & Son 1825, W & W Gilbert 1807, N Percy & Son 1777. Stewart Bros back on top and runner-up in the MAC doing velocity 2005, that’s 9 x 1sts this season to date.
Harryville HPS 8/234 – A McBride 2004, K & K Kernohan 1984, 1978, R H Clements 1977, 1977, K & K Kernohan 1944, R H Clements 1941, 1941, K & K Kernohan 1937, A McBride 1933. Big early bird for the second week for Allen McBride, timed his Blue Pied hen at 11.11am flying 200 miles. Full sister of last week’s winner. The sire is a son of Jimmy Rocks 11th Open Ylr Nat Sennen Cove and the dam purchased at the Kemp & McBride sale had won from Gowran Park and Rosscarbery as a young bird, Soontjens from D Parr and Geoff Douglas.
