It is with great sadness that on behalf of the R.P.R.A. Irish Region that I have to report the death of our past Secretary Robert Reid. Robert and his wife Yvonne were Secretaries for the region for 20 years. Robert was also a Past President , life Vice President and for many years a member of the management committee of the N.I.P.A. Robert was also a very successful pigeon fancier racing in the Carrick & District H.P.S. for many years and also held the post of Secretary of the club for many years. The Pigeon Sport owes a lot to Robert for his tireless work in the many roles he took on in all the organisations he was involved in. He will be sadly missed and to his wife Yvonne, daughter Carol, son Robert and all the family circle our thoughts and condolences go out to you.Noel Higginson R.P.R.A. Irish Region Secretary.

Obituary Robert Reid –

I just got the very-sad news this morning that Robert Reid from Carrickfergus had passed away at hospital. He had been in ill health for several years and had more recently been in and out of hospital. For a long time Robert has been Secretary of Carrick & Dist, at one time the premier club in town, when reporting for that area I covered the results for many years and had on a few occasions attended the annual prize giving. Up until last year he had been the Secretary of the RPRA (Irish Region) a post he had held for two decades and as long as I can remember a NIPA Committee Rep for the local fancy in East Antrim and served a term as NIPA President. I first came across Robert in the early seventies when new to the sport, operating as a Clock Setter in the Muckamore HPS when it was a Clock Centre for NIPA and INFC, in those days hundreds of manual clocks were set for the big events. On behalf of the local fancy sincere condolences to wife Yvonne, son Robert and the wider family circle at this very-sad time. J W Reynolds HOMER.
