NIPA YOUNGBIRD CURTAIN RAISER
After what seemed a very short break from the finish of the Old Bird Season for the N.I.P.A. and its
members the start of the young bird season is upon us. The N.I.P.A. youngbird season opener went
ahead as scheduled. The members race marked for Kilbeggan in in Co. Westmeath. And Section F
where in Navan in Co. Meath. A Total of 168 members of the Mighty N.I.P.A. sent a total of 5,477
Birds to the first Kilbeggan and 37 Members from Section F sent 975 Birds to Navan for the first race
of the young bird racing calendar. On Saturday the 19 th of July the N.I.P.A. Conveyers were given the
green light to liberate at 11:30AM in a South East wind at Kilbeggan. Section F Birds were then
liberated later in Navan at 13:00 PM also in a South East Wind.

The Winning Bird from the first Youngbird Race of the N.I.P.A. Season belongs to P. Duffy of Armagh
H.P.S. in Section E.
Many Congratulations to P. Duffy on claiming 1 st , 2 nd , 3 rd & 4 th N.I.P.A. Open from Kilbeggan 1 from
5,477 Birds. Paul also has 23 Positions in the Open.
The Winning Bird from the Navan Race belongs to Gordon Bros & Sons of Killyleagh Central in
Section F.
Many Congratulations to Gordon Bros & Sons on claiming 1 st Section F from Navan 1 from 975 Birds.
The Gordon’s also takes the top 3 Positions in the Section.
SECTION C REPORT
The Winner of Section C (33/948) from Kilbeggan 1 was Knocker & Bill of Muckamore H.P.S. The
Racing Duo kicked off the season with a Win in their Club along with a top 4 finish (146 Birds) In
Section C they also had a super result in Winning 1 st , 2 nd , 7 th & 8 th Section C (948 Birds) In the Open
placings they were reward with 55 th , 66 th , 124 th & 126 th Open NIPA (5,477 Birds) The Partnerships
Section C Winner was bred and raced by them GB25 X 15692. He is a grandson of the King Boxer &
Angelina they got from Ray Benson back to a blue hen of White Nose & a Rudy Van Reeth from Sean
O’Driscoll

The first young bird race of the 2025 season made its way round somewhat quickly and the
members who decided to send went to Kilbeggan racecourse with high hopes!
First man out of the blocks and smashing the result was Brian McNeilly of the Mr & Mrs B McNeilly
partnership Doagh!
I doubt I will ever see a better card with the folks taking 14 of a possible 20 positions available,
simply staggering!
The first four pigeons taking 3rd,4th,5th & 6th Sec C NIPA!
The winning blue cheque hens parents are

Dam Grandaughter of double top
As they say the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.
After some horrible bad luck at the lofts last week, hopefully this result gives you both a lift!

SECTION D REPORT
The Winner of Section D (21/556) from Kilbeggan 1 was J. Braniff of Trinity R.P.C. A great start to the
youngbird season with Jim winning 1 st Club (56 Birds) taking home 1 st Prize Winner in Section D (556
Birds) and in the N.I.P.A. Open won 143 rd prize (5,477 Birds). Jim Section Winner IHU25 N 06516 is
from a family he has cultivated over many years. They are a cross of Parkside Superman from Roy
Kennedy and Vermeerbergen/Staff Van Reet from Keith Kernohan. Jim has had success from the
Kings Cup with this family, so hopefully this Section Winner will get better the further he goes.
