Randalstown – France Champions in 2010

Randalstown HPS was one of the last clubs to join the Mid Antrim Combine, they have a long history racing in the local area and the late Arthur Simpson brought fame to the village club when winning the famous Kings Cup with the great “Champion Shean”, one of the very few birds to win both the Kings Cup and a Hall of Fame Diploma. The fancy will also long remember the late Bob Bell who was secretary of the club for over 50 years and the late John Kyle a long time Chairman who served a term as President of the NIPA. John Millar was secretary for a number of years recently but this year due to work and other pressures has given the racing of birds up. The new man covering admin is a far out relation Simon Millar who comes from a family with a long history in the birds, Simon in a very short period of time is both a top show loft and won most races in 2010 to take top prize-winner. Garry McAllister & Son won both the INFC French races into Mid Antrim Combine, very few clubs other that Cullybackey have managed that feat locally and again this will be long remembered. These were the two Irish Nat FC events, the Kings Cup race from Plaudren/Vannes and the Friendship Nat from St Malo, both flown in July. At the end of June the NIPA Premier OB Nat was also flown from St Malo and Simon Millar was to score a best ever result with a bird timed on the day to win 1st Club, 1st Mid Antrim Combine, 1st Sect B and 6th Open NIPA 535/1695 doing velocity 1205. In an old bird season to remember Randalstown HPS topped Mid Antrim in all three races from France. Added to that Simon Millar won 1st Mid Antrim Combine in Roscrea (2), two birds together doing velocity 1225 during young birds and earlier in the year in the second old bird race from Tullamore Stewart Bros won 1st MAC, 1st Sect B 168/4163 and 155th Open NIPA 1101/24,776 on velocity 1599.
