The first big NIPA National was flown at the weekend from Rosscarbery liberated at the early time of 7.00am with a West NW wind over the route. In helping conditions although we had some showers the race was not as difficult as expected and lots of birds were timed to member lofts. We had some fantastic results locally but none better than by Paddy McManus of Ahoghill who timed his winner flying just over five hours to record velocity 1475 for the 252 miles. This one is a full sister to the cock than won 1st MAC in the corresponding race last season. Roy Clements was back at the top in Harryville, Stewart Bros had 1st Randalstown, Alistair Purvis won both races in Broughshane and Alan Darragh done the same in Cullybackey.

Best in Mid Antrim from Rosscarbery was Paddy McManus who is having another top season in Ahoghill winning nearly all the races to date, no doubt he is the loft to beat. Club winners filled the Top 5 places Young McManus & Sons followed by Roy Clements 1st Harryville (1471), Stewart Bros 1st Randalstown (1465), Alistair Purvis 1st Broughshane & Dist (1459) and Alan Darragh 1st Cullybackey (1455) and the top six positions at 253 miles.
