CITY OF DERRY FEDERATION TALBENNY
With the first channel race upon us on Sat and strong north winds forcast, no one could envisage that the pigeons would be liberated in Wales so late at 12.30 and given the fact that earlier the Fed birds racing from Tullamore where very slow. A long night for every one was anticipated fanciers got a glimmer of hope when after eight o’clock pigeons where reported close home to most fanciers it was disappointment to say the least but to the select few that clocked it was great relief and small comfort and putting his mark down as the channel king is none other than Eamon Quigley Rock flying club taking the honours for the second time this year followed closely by Michael Harkin Derry and district hps who had an exceptional fly with only two entries taking 2nd fed. Barry Hart Foyle rps taking two positions in 3rd and 8th and has raced very well this year with Rock fc member Michael McCloskey a relatively newcomer to the sport being rewarded for his hard work and dedication with 4th and 7th. Antony McCrudden Derry and district hps is rewarded for his work with 5th while Cassidy bros set there standards out with total commitment to the long distance racing coming 6th. No doubt the Rock fc showed there not the minnows anymore when it comes to the big stage, once again well done to those who clocked on the day.
The second race on Saturday from Tullamore saw Anthony McCrudden Derrry and district hps win which was another slow race for all fanciers concerned and this will give him confidence going in to Fermoy and Bude next week. He was followed closely by Maxi and Connor Chism Derry and district hps in second and Jim and Gary Ramsey Derry and district hps having a steady race with 3rd,4th,6th,14th. l and M Moran Derry and district take 5th with Maiden City winners Dunne and Quigley 7th, 9th,11th, J and D Kelly Londonderry rps 8th and 13th with Maiden City flyers Concannon bros 10th,16th,17th. Frankie Ramsey Maiden city rps 12th, Sean Duffy Derry and district hps 15th, and Jim Diamond Foyle rps 18th. Racing this week from Bude in Cornwall, and the 5 Bird Championship race from Fermoy.
DERRY AND DISTRICT HPS results
Flying from Talbenny in Wales sees Micheal Harkin take his first red card of the season in fine style in very difficult circumstances with heavy winds and recording the only other pigeon home on the day was Anthony McCrudden and well done on a difficult fly to both flyers. Result from Tullamore 1st Anthony McCrudden, 2nd Maxi and Connor Chism, 3rd,4th,6th Jim and Gary Ramsey, 5th Louie and Michael Moran 8th, and 10th Sean Duffy.
