CONGRATULATIONS for winning 1st IRELAND, 1st OPEN and “FLYING THE NATIONAL FLAG” goes to MAURICE O’DONNELL with his pigeon named PANACHY PEET which was clocked at 08-20-23.77, this pigeon is really on form at the present time and has already now won 3 x 1st IRELAND, plus 11th, 13th and now 1st OPEN in the first 5 races, plus Maurice also had the confidence to nominate this pigeon in the Global Nominations and picked up US$442 (approx. £295) for its efforts, plus he also entered it into the Cascade Challenge where the nominated pigeon has to win 1st OPEN and because this pigeon did just that it won a cool US$2,731 (approx. £1,821) for beaten all the others that were entered. This is the first time that an Irish pigeon has ever won the Cascades Challenge. Well done Maurice on this great achievement. I spoke to Maurice on Monday and he told me the sire came from Peter Fox of Syndicate Lofts and the dam was bred from a great flyer named Joss Joosens from Belgium, everything she seems to breed is a winner. A pigeon the same way bred took 116th Open in the SCMDPR Final Race in 2011 and another sister took 27th Open in the 2011 Europa Classic, when only 3 made it on the day, another sister won 7th Open Talbenny from over 6,000 pigeons. Then 2nd Ireland, 24th Open to Hennie + Anette Kallmeyer, 3rd Ireland, 270th Open to Bernard Smyth, 4th Ireland, 277th Open to Finbars, 5th Ireland, 394th Open to Tom Cahill and then 6th Ireland, 526th Open to Paul Poole and Son. A great team result for the Irish Team who had a total of 46 pigeons clocked by 09-25, then 49 by 12-49, then 50 by 16-25 and 50 by nightfall, which meant only 2 pigeons were still missing. Two more returned to the lofts on Sunday morning making 100% returns.

GLOBAL NOMINATION for TRAINING RACE 5 showed a total of 334 pigeons entered and with 1,009 nominations and this included 25 United Kingdom and 5 Irish pigeons and flying for a total of US$6,628-30c (approx. £4,420). The Irish Team member MAURICE O’DONNELL won 1st OPEN with his pigeon named PANACKY PEET and won a cool US$442 (approx. £295). The United Kingdom Team members did well and WALDRON LOFTS took 52nd & 149th OPEN with pigeons named WALDRON STAR and WALDRON WIZARD and bred both by GRAHAM WATKINSON from SKELMERSDALE which both won him US$136 (approx. £91) on each. WELL DONE TO ALL CONCERNED.

UNITED KINGDOM REGIONAL NOMINATIONS for TRAINING RACE 5 showed only 4 pigeons being entered and 14 nominations and a total of US$52-70c (approx. £35) and US$27-20c (approx. £18) was won by WALDRON LOFTS pigeon named WALDRON STAR bred by GRAHAM WATKINSON from SKELMERSDALE that took 52nd OPEN, GUYS LOFTS with pigeon named Grahams Choice bred by Graham Guy from Wolverhampton took 283rd Open and won US£25-50c (approx. £17). CONGRATULATIONS TO BOTH THESE FANCIERS.

The CASCADE CHALLENGE was a new competition introduced two years ago and it has created a great deal of interest. It is basically a SINGLE PIGEON NOMINATION and any pigeon can be entered for just US$10 (approx. £6.50p) but the “POT OF GOLD” can only be won if one of these nominated pigeons actually wins 1st OPEN, if not it is like the National Lottery, it just rolls over to the following nomination race or until somebody finally wins the jackpot. You do not have to enter the same pigeon in every nomination race, the choice is yours.

CASCADE CHALLENGE for TRAINING RACE 5 showed a total of US$2,731 (approx. £1,821) and had attracted 86 nominations which included 8 from the UK and 2 from Ireland. This Training Race 5 actually had a winner and was won by 1st OPEN owned by entered by MAURICE O’DONNELL from the REPUBLIC OF IRELAND with his pigeon named PANACKY PEET. What a great way to start picking up “The Pot Of Gold”. The first UNITED KINGDOM pigeon named DANNY C took 282nd OPEN for P & D. CLARKE from SEVENASH. CONGRATULATIONS TO BOTH THESE FANCIERS. As this cash prize was won in Training Race 5 Air Sport Internationale have put in US$2,000 as a new starting fund for the next Cascade Challenge which starts on Training Race 7.

The SUN CITY OVERALL GRAND AVERAGES after 5 races shows as follows:- 1st to ERIC WESSEL from UNITED STATES OF AMERICA with pigeon named AIR BEAR which has a combined flying time of 04-33-47.15 and is currently leading this classification by 81 seconds. There are currently 7 different countries represented in the top 10. The first UNITED KINGDOM pigeon holds 5th and was entered by SUE BENNETT from DARLINGTON with a pigeon bred for her by JIMMY RICHARDS from LAINDON, which is currently leading this classification by just over 6 minutes. The first IRISH pigeon holds 90th Open and belongs to BERNARD SMYTH with his pigeon named BOOTS GRANDE, which is currently leading this classification by over 11 minutes. WELL DONE TO ALL CONCERNED.

AN INTERESTING POINT TO NOTE THIS YEAR IS THAT THE FIRST FIVE TRAINING RACES HAVE ALL BEEN WON BY A PIGEON FROM A DIFFERENT COUNTRY, SOMETHING I BELIEVE HAS NOT HAPPENED DURING THE HISTORY OF THIS GREAT INTERNATIONAL PIGEON RACE OVER THE PAST FIFTEEN YEARS. UNITED KINGDOM WON THE FIRST, CANADA WON THE SECOND, GERMANY WON THE THIRD, SOUTH AFRICA WON THE FOURTH AND NOW IRELAND HAVE WON THE FIFTH. I WONDER WHO WILL WIN THE SIXTH?

More daily training on Monday and Tuesday for those that were fit enough and then the basketing list appeared on the web site later on Tuesday 8th November for TRAINING RACE 6 which was due to take place on Wednesday 9th November from 81km (51 miles) and this showed a total of 4,756 pigeons were competing (yet another record entry for this race) and this figure included 4,051 International, which included 374 from the United Kingdom and 52 from Ireland, plus 705 pigeons from South Africa. The clocking system was left on and 4,648 were home by 09-26, leaving just 108 pigeons missing from this race. This turned out to be a strange race with big gaps between groups of pigeons but at the end of the race the returns were acceptable and extra vital experience was learnt by these athletes of the skies.

It will also be my sixteenth year of organising a “TRIP OF A LIFETIME” and I am also fairly positive that once again Sun International will be going out of their way to make sure everybody has a fantastic time in the fabulous Sun City Resort and as in past years I will as usual be organising a 10 day (7 nights) stay in the fantastic 5 star Cascades Hotel to watch and be part of this fantastic race and meet lots of top fanciers from literally all over the world, whilst the same time enjoying the fantastic South African scenery, weather, food, beer and of course the superb South African hospitality, so if you are genuinely interested please get in touch with me on 01279-812005 or my mobile 07860-568216 or email me on reglofts@aol.com as soon as possible because the return flights and hotel accommodation will be at a premium and all will be sold as usual on a first come, first served basis. I already have a good number of pigeon fanciers travelling out with my group and I can personally guarantee you will be made most welcome if you decide to join our party just like everybody else has been in the past.

*** EXTRA SPECIAL NOTICE*** One point that should be pointed out to all competitors and entrants is that only your NUMBER 1 pigeons is “ACTIVATED” (FULLY PAID UP ENTRY) with the other TWO (2) pigeons in each of your “TEAM OF 3” being your RESERVES or BACK-UP PIGEONS. Another point worth mentioning is if you happened to lose your NUMBER 1 PIGEON, your NUMBER 2 PIGEON would replace it FREE OF CHARGE and likewise if you then lost your NUMBER 2 PIGEON, your NUMBER 3 PIGEON would then replace that one FREE OF CHARGE. If you were unlucky enough to lose all your entries of 3 pigeons in any of your “TEAMS” and they had won no “Special Prize Money” in the new 5 x Car Race Hot Spots then you are entitled to a “FREE ENTRY” into the 2013 SCMDPR, all you have to pay is the shipping/export costs. This of course represents great value for your money. All pigeons go to every training toss and Saturday races providing they are fit enough but can only compete for any of the allocated PRIZE MONEY or SPECIAL AWARDS in the 5 x CAR RACE HOT SPOTS if they are “ACTIVATED” and that means that these must be paid for prior to the CAR RACE HOT SPOT 1, which is due to take place on Saturday 26th November 2011 from 200km (approx. 125 miles). The cost to “ACTIVATE” these “RESERVES or BACK-UP PIGEONS” is US$1,000 but that will then entitle all these fully paid up pigeons to compete and be eligible to fly for all the extra cash prizes and special awards that amounts to close to US$300,000 (approx. £200,000). The one thing to remember is that once your reserve pigeon or pigeons are fully paid for, if then they get lost and have won no prize money or special awards in the Special Money Races, then you get this money refunded (less about US$15 (£10) for bank charges) or you can have it added to your ASI account, which can then be used to purchase another pigeon at a later date and be entered into the Final Race under your name or syndicate. So as you can see it is “BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY” and pay for them early, after all you have nothing to lose. HOW MANY OTHER INTERNATIONAL PIGEON RACES IN THE WORLD OFFER THIS OPTION TO COMPETITORS & ENTRANTS?

*****ACTIVATION OF YOUR RESERVES***** Please get in touch with me as soon as possible on 01279-812005 or my mobile 07860-568216 or email reglofts@aol.com and tell me which pigeons you want to “ACTIVATE”. If you want all your pigeons to be eligible to fly for all the “Special Prize Money” and “Special Awards” during the 5 x CAR RACE HOT SPOTS, then it really is advisable to do them before the CAR RACE HOT SPOT 1. See above for information as you really have nothing to lose. Please do not get caught out like so many do each year.

I would also just like to notify fanciers that my weekly “INTERNATIONAL PRESS RELEASE”, “NEWSLETTERS” and “UPDATES” can now also be seen on the following pigeon web sites:- www.regencylofts.com www.iprr.co.uk www.elimarpigeons.com www.pigeonportal.com www.pigeonglobe.co.uk www.cyberpigeon.co.uk www.pigeonbasics.com www.pigeoncare.nl www.star-pigeons.com www.pigeonnetwork.com plus of course they will also be in the “”BRITISH HOMING WORLD” and “THE RACING PIGEON” for all to see.

If you have any questions about any aspect of the SUN CITY MILLION DOLLAR PIGEON RACE, then please contact me as soon as possible on 01279-812005 or my mobile 07860-568216 or email me on reglofts@aol.com and I will do my best to answer any of your questions or queries.

IF ANY PIGEON FANCIER IN THE UNITED KINGDOM OR IRELAND WOULD LIKE TO RECEIVE MY WEEKLY “INTERNATIONAL PRESS RELEASES”, “NEWSLETTERS” AND “UPDATES” BY EMAIL, THEN ALL THEY HAVE TO DO IS EMAIL ME THEIR ACTUAL EMAIL ADDRESS AND I WILL ADD THEM TO MY DATABASE AND FORWARD THEM ALL THE INFORMATION BY EMAIL ON A REGULAR BASIS.

*****SPECIAL NOTICE TO ALL COMPETING FANCIERS***** I LIKE TO GIVE ALL ENTRANTS THE CREDIT THEY TRULY DESERVE WHEN THEIR PIGEON OR PIGEONS SCORE IN THE RESULTS. I CAN ONLY PUT DOWN THE INFORMATION I HAVE ON FILE IN MY DATABASE AND SOMETIMES OF COURSE THAT IS INCORRECT OR OUT OF DATE, SO PLEASE IF YOU HAVE A PIGEON OR PIGEONS ENTERED IN THIS RACE, LET ME HAVE YOUR CHRISTIAN NAME AND THE TOWN YOU LIVE IN SO I CAN THEN GIVE YOU THE CREDIT YOU AND YOUR PIGEON OR PIGEONS DESERVE WHEN YOU DO WELL. EITHER JUST EMAIL ME YOUR FULL DETAILS TO reglofts@aol.com OR CALL ME ON 01279-812005 OR 07860-568216 AND THEN I CAN UPDATE MY DATABASE WITH YOUR CORRECT DETAILS.

Unfortunately, as much as I would like to I can’t mention all the pigeons clocked but any entrant/competitor or pigeon fancier can just log onto www.scmdpr.com and hit the Results & Listings button on the top left hand side of the home page and this will give you all the past racing results of this 2011/12 race series.
