The NIPA returned to Tullamore for the second race of the old bird season liberation on Saturday was 10.00am in a North Westerly wind. It has been a very steady start and reports indicate returns have been good for both races. The weather this week is again a bit unsettled with some high winds, hopefully a bit better at the weekend when the NIPA move on to Roscrea.

Alan Darragh tops Mid Antrim Combine -

Like the previous week the second race was from Tullamore, another very good race following the 10.00am liberation in the North Westerly wind. Just short of 3,000 birds were competing in the local Mid Antrim Combine and the overall winner was the ace fancier from Cullybackey Alan Darragh recording velocity 1528 followed by two early arrivals for Martin Graham in Ballymena & District. The Magill team in Ballee had 1st New Antrim (1511), Stewart Bros had 1st, 2nd & 3rd in Randalstown (1507), while Surgenor Bros and Young McManus & Sons won their respective clubs Kells and Ahoghill for the second week. The Darragh and Graham lofts were also winning for the second week, the top lofts do set the pace.

Big East Sect Result in the East Down Combine -

In their second race of the old bird season the East Down Combine moved on to Tullamore, liberation on Saturday was at 11.00am in a Westerly wind. The East Sect dominated the race and in particular the Annalong HPS where Billy Higgins on 1701 topped the Open followed by B Tremlett, McLoughlin Bros and J Trimble & Son. Rab Hunter from Ballynahinch had the top three in the West Sect his winner doing velocity 1637, McCartan & Woodsides from Crossgar had another super race card.
