Fancier of the Year Awards 2012 -

The NIPA are a very large organization and the presentation each season takes a bit of time, to do it some justice it’s not possible to cover in just one report and for the last few years I have covered the various competitions at different times. The night includes the awards for the RPRA (Irish Region), although I note at their last meeting there was some discussion about the prizes being presented in future at RPRA (Irish Region) meeting bringing them into line with what happens in other parts of the country. The NIPA had additional prizes this year with the expansion of the Section Fancier of the Year competition. For a number of years the award was presented covering both old bird and young bird racing, with just an overall winner. The decision was made last year that we would continue to present cups for the overall winners but would add awards for competition in both old bird and young bird racing. I always thought this was a good idea and Diplomas were presented for the first time this year. Out of the 8 NIPA Sections only two lofts won all three competitions, Bingham & Seaton in the East Antrim Sect C who enjoyed a best ever racing season and Donnelly Bros from Newry City.
