The Ulster Federation were in Thurles for their third race of the old bird season . The birds were liberated on Saturday 04/05/13 at 10.00 am into a south westerly wind and a fast race was on the cards . At the time of going to press the likely winners of 1st Open Ulster Federation Thurles are the Fortfield partnership of P & C Carson , topping the Ulster Fed for the second week on the trot . Their latest Champion has been named “ Champion Doleys Promise . Sire of the winning cock was bred by Doley Croskery – Annsborough – two seasons past and is bred directly off Doleys no1 race hen “Josies Pride “ Dam of the latest Fed Winner was purchased from Roy Irwin – Dundonald – and is the very best of Roys Hartog family . Last weekends 2nd Fed winner contained Roys bloodlines also . Doley promised the Carson’s that the cock would breed them a Fed winner and he has kept his promise . The Carsons would like to thank , through the column , both Doley & Roy for supplying them with top stock. Congratulations guys on your recent top success .
