Due to a poor forecast the Bude event due to be flown at the weekend was cancelled and a race from Rosscarbery in Co Cork put in its place. The weather was nothing special in Mid Antrim and the North West with rain most of the day, conditions in Southern Ireland were a lot better. The convoy was released at 11.20am after a rain delay, in a fresh South Westerly wind and it turned out a fast race. Returns were quite good as well considering the conditions at the home end. Kells & Dist lofts dominated the result, overall winner was Scott & Clements who timed at 15.52hrs flying 253 miles. Bloodlines of the winner were Surgenor and Delaney. George McDowell was next best having three birds almost together. Others well placed included Stewart Bros 1st Randalstown (1621), J Millar & Son 1st Harryville (1602), Blair & Rankin 1st Ballymena & Dist (1597), J & N Simpson 1st Broughshane & Dist (1592), M/M Robinson 1st Ahoghill (1582), and Alan Darragh 1st Cullybackey (1576). In the semi-final of the Champions League Alan Darragh beat Danny Dixon and Jimmy Rock beat Paddy McManus. It will be a Cullybackey v Harryville final in Penzance at the weekend.
The race marking arrangements for St Malo are as follows, Cullybackey HPS will be open on Monday 24th June from 8.30pm until 9.30pm to collect the club entry fees and cheque etc. Birds are race marked on Tuesday 25th June between 2.30pm and 4.30pm and clocks will be made ready after transporter departs. Weather permitting the Premier Old Bird Nat will be flown on Friday 28th June, any changes to arrangements will be on the website and Pigeon Line.

Weekend weather in the Antrim area was not just the best but the birds still made good time from the respective races, Rosscarbery was flown in place of Bude and we had the annual 5 Bird Championship race. One thing did remain consistent, last season’s Fancier of the Year in the NIPA Sect B Fleming Bros from Crumlin won 1st Sect in both events. In Muckamore the East Antrim loft of A & E Bell had 1st, 2nd and 3rd with the winner doing velocity 1688 while in Kells & Dist the Scott & Clements team had 1st Club, 1st Mid Antrim Combine and finished 2nd Sect B doing velocity 1639. Stewart Bros ewere out on their own in Randalstown their winner recorded velocity 1621. The Rosscarbery liberation had been delayed until 11.20am because of rain, wind at the site was a fresh SW and we got a fast race, returns good considering the conditions.

Poor weather cut short the cross channel programme, instead of Bude a race was arranged at short notice for Rosscarbery in Co Cork. Birds were released at 11.20am in a Fresh SW wind having been delayed due to rain at the race-point. The route over most of Ireland was clear but conditions at the top end were far from good with continuous rain for much of the day. Terence McCrudden had the big early arrival in the County Derry RPS and doing velocity 1557 topped the Coleraine Triangle. The winner, a Van de Bosche yearling was gifted to him last year as a young bird from Leo Flanagan of the Londonderry RPS. Hanson & Harpur were 1st in Coleraine Premier (1534) and R & J Parke 1st in the Windsor Social (1523).

Fermoy 5 Bird Championship -
The birds were released in Fermoy at 8.00am in a Fresh Westerly wind and despite the local weather conditions made very good time up into North Antrim and the North West. Danny Dixon from Ballymoney was best in the Coleraine Centre, he had birds at 11.07am and 11.15am flying 208 miles into Dunloy. Dayy will be well placed in the Mid Antrim Comb and NIPA Section B. A previous winner of the Champions League he missed out this time and the final from Penzance will be between Alan Darragh (Cullybackey) and Jimmy Rock (Harryville). Best in Coleraine was J L Madden of the Coleraine Premier, doing velocity 1868 his loft will be well placed in Section A.

The Fermoy 5 Bird had an early liberation at 8.00am in a fresh Westerly wind and the birds returned home a lot faster than the later race from Rosscarbery. Fleming Bros had the best local bird winning 1st Crumlin & Dist & 1st Sect B on velocity 1976ypm, the winner recorded at 10.46am flying into Main Street in Crumlin, a distance of 187 miles. Next best was John White of Muckamore who recorded his winner at 10.49am flying 189 miles to Nutts Corner.

Weekend weather in the Antrim area was not just the best but the birds still made good time from the respective races, Rosscarbery was flown in place of Bude and we had the annual 5 Bird Championship race. One thing did remain consistent, last season’s Fancier of the Year in the NIPA Sect B Fleming Bros from Crumlin won 1st Sect in both events. In Muckamore the East Antrim loft of A & E Bell had 1st, 2nd and 3rd with the winner doing velocity 1688 while in Kells & Dist the Scott & Clements team had 1st Club, 1st Mid Antrim Combine and finished 2nd Sect B doing velocity 1639. Stewart Bros ewere out on their own in Randalstown their winner recorded velocity 1621. The Rosscarbery liberation had been delayed until 11.20am because of rain, wind at the site was a fresh SW and we got a fast race, returns good considering the conditions.

Poor weather cut short the cross channel programme, instead of Bude a race was arranged at short notice for Rosscarbery in Co Cork. Birds were released at 11.20am in a Fresh SW wind having been delayed due to rain at the race-point. The route over most of Ireland was clear but conditions at the top end were far from good with continuous rain for much of the day. Terence McCrudden had the big early arrival in the County Derry RPS and doing velocity 1557 topped the Coleraine Triangle. The winner, a Van de Bosche yearling was gifted to him last year as a young bird from Leo Flanagan of the Londonderry RPS. Hanson & Harpur were 1st in Coleraine Premier (1534) and R & J Parke 1st in the Windsor Social (1523).

Fermoy 5 Bird Championship -
The birds were released in Fermoy at 8.00am in a Fresh Westerly wind and despite the local weather conditions made very good time up into North Antrim and the North West. Danny Dixon from Ballymoney was best in the Coleraine Centre, he had birds at 11.07am and 11.15am flying 208 miles into Dunloy. Dayy will be well placed in the Mid Antrim Comb and NIPA Section B. A previous winner of the Champions League he missed out this time and the final from Penzance will be between Alan Darragh (Cullybackey) and Jimmy Rock (Harryville). Best in Coleraine was J L Madden of the Coleraine Premier, doing velocity 1868 his loft will be well placed in Section A.

The Fermoy 5 Bird had an early liberation at 8.00am in a fresh Westerly wind and the birds returned home a lot faster than the later race from Rosscarbery. Fleming Bros had the best local bird winning 1st Crumlin & Dist & 1st Sect B on velocity 1976ypm, the winner recorded at 10.46am flying into Main Street in Crumlin, a distance of 187 miles. Next best was John White of Muckamore who recorded his winner at 10.49am flying 189 miles to Nutts Corner.
