Bude 31/05/14 – Lib 13.45hrs
The second race from across the water was flown last Saturday from Bude a fantastic day across most of the country warm but unfortunately misty. It was a long wait and the decision was made to release at 1.45pm in calm conditions. It turned out a very hard test despite the early birds making good time, and just one bird made it up into Derry City. Many top quality birds failed to home on the day and a number of lofts failed as well. There has been much discussion and I am sure there will be a lot more. Jeff Greenaway from Dromore took the top honours and he for one had a race to remember with the top nine birds in the Dromore HPS timed inside an hour. Winner was timed at 19.04hrs flying 257 miles for velocity 1414.

The second cross channel race in a week was flown last Saturday from Bude, liberation was delayed due to mist and fog. Liberation was at the later time of 1.45pm and it proved to be quite a hard task for the longer flying clubs. The best bird in the local area was timed by Paddy McManus in Ahoghill, his yearling Blue hen was recorded at 7.53pm flying 288 miles followed by the Talbenny winners T & G Balmer. Young McManus & Sons take 1st Club, 1st Comb & Sect and 19th Open NIPA with 8,754 birds competing.
Champions League Semi-Final to be flown this weekend from Truro. Steele & McNeill (Rasharkin) v M/M M Sempey (Ballymena). Surgenor Bros (Kells) v J & N Simpson (Broughshane).
Cullybackey Centre – Money for Penzance OB Classic will be collected on Tuesday 10th June, Cullybackey HPS will be open between 8.30pm and 9.30pm for club cheques etc. Race marking is Thursday 12th June between 4.00pm and 5.30pm in Cullybackey. The second race from across the water was flown last Saturday from Bude a fantastic day across most of the country warm but unfortunately misty. It was a long wait and the decision was made to release at 1.45pm in calm conditions. It turned out a very hard test despite the early birds making good time, and just one bird made it up into Derry City. Many top quality birds failed to home on the day and a number of lofts failed as well. There has been much discussion and I am sure there will be a lot more. Jeff Greenaway from Dromore took the top honours and he for one had a race to remember with the top nine birds in the Dromore HPS timed inside an hour. Winner was timed at 19.04hrs flying 257 miles for velocity 1414.

The second cross channel race in a week was flown last Saturday from Bude, liberation was delayed due to mist and fog. Liberation was at the later time of 1.45pm and it proved to be quite a hard task for the longer flying clubs. The best bird in the local area was timed by Paddy McManus in Ahoghill, his yearling Blue hen was recorded at 7.53pm flying 288 miles followed by the Talbenny winners T & G Balmer. Young McManus & Sons take 1st Club, 1st Comb & Sect and 19th Open NIPA with 8,754 birds competing.
