W White & Son top Combine from Pilmore Beach writes Clifford Browne
For the 6th Young Bird race of the 2015 season the East Down Combine were in Pilmore Beach and this turned out to be the race with the slowest winning velocity so far in this Young Bird season. The weather at the liberation point was not suitable for a liberation first thing so it was 10am before the convoy was released into a light variable wind and as can be seen the top velocities this week saw 8 birds from the 3,500 convoy make over the 1300ypm mark. Pride of place on 1330ypm was to Walter & Gareth White of the Newtownbreda club with the next two to Ballylesson members K & B McConaghie & son & Mackey & Lockhart and it was the West section clubs to the fore this week with the first 18 Open places.
It was Bob Connolly of Downpatrick who had the 1st East section bird followed by Mickey Croskery of Annsborough.
