West Section Lofts have top 6 places from Clonmel 2 writes Clifford Browne -
Saturday 5th of September saw the East Down Combine young birds in Clonmel for what for many clubs was the last club race of the season and with a North wind this turned out to be the slowest race of the Young Bird season which was only to be expected, nevertheless the top 6 birds made over the 1200 ypm. As well as the north wind the day had started dull and cold so the decision was made to hold the birds until the day warmed up a bit and they were away at 12noon. The Newtownbreda partnership of B Hogg & sons are this week’s winners of the open and they have enjoyed a great season with young Jack being a very dedicated member of the partnership. Ronnie Johnston of the Comber club has enjoyed one of his best ever seasons and is 2nd open this week with Ballylesson’s Alex Crawford in 3rd open place. These are also the top three in the West section. Killyleagh Central’s Tony Smith had three together to take the top three in the East Section
