Harryville HPS awards 2015 – For the first time the local club used the Moat Bar for the Annual Dinner and presentation of prizes, guests were Steven Anderson and Jamie Greer from Cullybackey who gave great assistance and support during the racing season. For the third season on the trot the Highest Prize-winner was Jimmy Rock who flies the birds to his lofts at Albert Place in the town centre. Jimmy had for many years scored well at the distance events, the team of birds he has now score over the whole season.

Leading Lofts were Jimmy Rock 342 Points, R H Clements 321 Points, MDC Magill 250 Points, Allen McBride 233 Points, T Johnston & Son 189 Points, Lexi Mullan 96 Points, George Price 96 Points, Dennis Craig 80 Points, K & K Kernohan 52 Points, Wray & McFadden 52 Points, R Service & Son 36 Points, J & C Letters 22 Points.

Wray & McFadden won – Lowest Winning Velocity, Most Points Derby Races, Most Points France Races. W Jackson won – National Points Average, Best Ave 2 x YB Nationals.

Mid Antrim Combine highlights included: Talbenny Old Birds 91/1524 Trevor Johnston & Son won 1st MAC plus Diploma and George Price was 3rd. Rosscarbery Yearling Cock National 47/188 MDC Magill won 1st MAC plus Diploma. In the Young Bird season opening race from Mullingar 54/1425 Lexi Mullan was 2nd MAC, Tullamore 89/2888 MDC Magill were 2nd, Roscrea (3) 75/1637 J Rock was 2nd, Rosscarbery Nat 46/377 R H Clements was 1st plus Diploma. It’s hard getting on to that list.

The NIPA had a Committee meeting in the Banbridge British Legion on Tuesday 15th December, main business was dealing with the results of voting from the member clubs of the race programme for 2016. It was decided that the voting would decide the next stage and those programmes that were 1st and 2nd for OB and YB would go back out to member clubs to be returned as usual for the AGM. Votes cast were as follows.

Old Birds: Programme (1) submitted by Dromore 45 Votes. Programme (2) submitted by Ards & Newry & Dist 248 Votes, Programme (3) submitted by Portadown & Drumcree 248 Votes, Programme (4) Existing 2015 Programme 139 Votes, Programme (5) submitted by Sect C Delegates 200 Votes.

INFC Merit Awards – The presentation for 2015 season will take place in the Dunsilly Hotel in Antrim on Friday 8th January at 8.00pm, hot buffet chicken and beef will be served, pay at the door £10. Guests this year for the panel will include Rodger Lowe and Eamon Kelly who won 2015 Blue Riband Grand National from Tarbes having won it previously racing in partnership with the late Frank Lloyd, the last year the event was flown from Pau. Eamon is also the National Flying Club Race Controller, both he and Rodger Lowe will have a mountain of information.

Ballymena & District HPS – The annual Open Show for Mid Antrim Sect B lofts is as usual New Year’s Day in the clubrooms at Fountain Place. Ballymena HPS annual dinner and prize presentation is on Saturday 9th January 2016 in Tullyglass House Hotel. All cups and trophies should be returned to the clubrooms.
