Len McCavery 1st Open from Thurles

For the 5th Young Bird race in the EDC programme the birds were in Thurles and were liberated at 11.30 am into a West wind with the top three birds in the open making over the 1600mark , the winner of the open and East Section being the Combine’s Chairman Len McCavery who races with the Annalong club .
Gordon bros & sons were again to the fore having the next 3 places in both the open and East Section whilst the West section saw the top two places going to B Hogg & sons ,followed by two to John Patterson . Top places open & Section were :
