Sale Newtownbreda – Frank Sheader was one of the first to acquire the Louis Thijs pigeons and had intended to race a small team with his grand-son but the family sold the house and no racing could take place. A small draft, just 35 Lots are coming to Northern Ireland to be sold in the Newtownbreda Clubrooms on Monday 31st October at 8.00pm. These birds are winning all over the UK including 1st Open Nat Flying Club YB Nat, 3 x 1st Open in Up North Combine and 100’s of 1sts at Club and Federation level. The few that have come to NI so far have done well, J Douglas & Son from Lurgan Soc won 1st North Sect INFC Skibbereen YB Nat and 3rd Sect E in the Rosscarbery YB Nat from two cocks purchased in 2015 paired with Herman Cuester hens from Wayne Doonan of Cock Crow Stud in Dromore. Ronnie Johnston himself has raced six birds with 4 winning 1st prizes. I hear the brilliant flyer Nigel Laycock has introduced them – what more can you say! Frank Sheader was famous for his Soontjens, these Louis Thijs could be the next Star Pigeons! The birds have not been raced and are a beautiful draft, more details and enquiries. Auctioneer Ronnie Johnston Tel: (028) 90 483625, or talk to Frank Tel: 01944 710384. You will find him very helpful and a very nice man.

Martin Hagan from Portadown purchased at the previous sale and scored 1st Club, 2nd Sect and 1st, 2nd and 3rd Club 2 weeks in succession. Ronnie Johnston himself has raced six birds with 4 winning 1st prizes. At a recent sale in England of the Louis Thijs many had a reserve of £250 and all sold in excess of that reserve, they are worth seeing.
