Wednesday 2 Bird Club - update

During 2017 I will be running a 2-Bird race every Wednesday, weather permitting of course, from Banbridge for all Clubs that race in the Coleraine and Ballymoney Area.

Windsor Social, Coleraine & County Derry, Coleraine Premier, Ballymoney, and Rasharkin.

This is something I think we need up here and it would be something different for the area. I have put out feelers about this and have received a good response. At present quite a few have said they will be taking part as it also gets in a good training toss for our birds.

This weekly event will also continue throughout the season and into the young bird season.

I have watched the Belgium pigeon fanciers do mid-week racing and thought it would be a great event to run over here. Every fancier that enters can only enter two birds into this which makes it a level playing field for everyone.

Will all those that our interested please post your name below and I will be in touch at a later date to get measurements arranged. All birds will be race marked out at Michael Howard yard which he has kindly offered.
The 2-Bird entry is £5 per bird for a 60% 40% cut. Trainers are also welcome at 20p a bird and this is open to anyone that wants to use this as a training spin. All winner’s money will be paid out on the day.

There has been a significant feedback concerning the 2-Bird and the boundary has been opened to bring in Ballymoney and Rasharkin. I think it is the best way forward to have top competition in our area.

The Belgium fanciers compete like this in their country with midweek sprint races against the big names in their area. If you want to test yourself you need the top men in this to compete against with no advantage to anyone. The distance between the shortest to longest is roughly around 19 miles. This is nothing when you consider what our distance is to compete in the section we fly in.

As this is a weekly 2-Bird event this will be a very tough event to win but it will test every one of us.

I have big plans ahead for this but will get it up and going first then take it from there.

For men that have to work and wish to enter, hampering times will be available for those who want to get their birds in early before work. All hampering will be done out at Michael Howard and Pauls yard and they have given me access to a large shed free of charge.

As Ive stated it is a 2-Bird event costing £10 for the two birds and trainers can be entered at a cost of 20p per bird. Only the 2-Bird pigeons will be race marked to stop any confusion. So guys get your names in so I can get on the ball and get this off the ground.

I know I cannot please everyone and there will be knockers but I will only care for those that want to join this because trust me, this will be a good thing once I get it off the ground.

All lots are now being processed by Pigeon Chat and I will inform you all very soon when the sale is going live.
I would like to reiterate in saying that I am very thankful to all that has offered what can only be described as the cream of 2017 young birds for this auction.
Without the kind generosity of you all this sale would not be possible to help get the Wednesday 2-bird club up and running.
Many thanks and happy bidding. Jimmy McSeveney PO
