BALLYLESSON & NEWTOWNBREDA LOFTS WIN SKIBBEREEN DERBIES
21st September 2017
Mid September and the 2017 season has drawn to a close . The East Down Combine’s final two races were both Derby events and both held from Skibbereen . With the end of the season came the final calculation of the Combine Fancier of the Year , final placings in the 2 bird leagues ,information on the Combine Dinner etc .
Let’s start with the Skibbereen Derby races the first of which was held on the 2nd of September when the birds were liberated in a light Southerly wind at 8.45am .With the South in the wind it again turned out to be a very fast race with the top seven birds into the 1800 velocity .The winner was into the Ballylesson club to Stephen and Aaron Casement and this was followed by the Bangor loft of Lambert & Stewart who have had a phenomenal YB season ,Dundonald fanciers took the next two with at 3rd Mark Foulis and 4th Jim Young &ptnrs and as I said last week further details will follow .The full result was:
