Lords V Commons Pigeon Race

Over the past 18 months the RPRA and its colleagues at the WHU and IHU have been working closely with a group of MPs and Lords to raise the profile of Pigeon Racing in parliament. This has resulted in the formation of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Pigeon Racing (APPG). The awareness will also help with issues our sport experiences such as the ever increasing Raptor population.

Over the past few month the APPG has gathered momentum with more MPs joining and supporting the group. In order to further raise the profile a Lords V Commons Pigeon Race has been organised to take place from Bletchley Park on Wednesday 13th June 2018. Lords and MPs will be invited to sponsor a pigeon in the race and therefore hopefully attract new members to the APPG. Chris Davies MP for Brecon and Radnorshire and Chair of the APPG brought the race to the attention of the House of Commons during yesterday’s Prime Ministers question time and the PM encouraged all MPs to support the race.

Race Details

The race is open to members of the Barnsley Federation of Pigeon Racing, Barnsley & District South Road Federation, Yorkshire Middle Route Combine and Waterloo 2 bird club.

As many pigeons as possible (up to a capacity of 1400) are required and therefore we are appealing to all members of the above organisation to support this race and therefore help us to help you.

Race Marking: Tuesday 12th June at Kinsley Progressive HQ from 5pm to 7pm

Liberation time: 9.45am (Weather Dependent)

Cost of Entry; FREE

Kinsley Progressive will also be running an open race in conjunction with the Lords V Commons race which will attract an entry fee but this is not compulsory.

I hope you all agree this is a positive move in the right direction and I would therefore be grateful if all members of these organisations could support this race to make it as successful as possible and therefore raise the profile of the sport in Parliament.

Further details can be obtained from myself or Mr Catch, Kinsley Secretary 01977 616452.

Thanks
